Which one should I get-1st Rolex???
I am really torn between the 116710 BLNR and 216570 Explorer II Black! I am looking for a watch that can be dressed up/down based on what I am doing. I only want one watch. I wear a suit to work, but go very casual on weekends and my time off. Enjoy all outdoor sports, coaching my children, hunting and fishing. Personally, I like both models very much, but am slighlty leaning towards the Explorer II due to it being less flashy, and seemingly more versatile for my lifestyle. Any advice or suggestions on which watch I should purchase is greatly appreciated...

Look at a 16610, it is the model before the ceramic bezel and is less flashy than the new Submariners, but a great watch. (and it will save you some money as well)

Both can handle your lifestyle.
I like the idea of the Exp2 though. A little more robust, brushed bracelet, fixed bezel and I think it can pair with a suit just fine. |

The 116710 BLNR is the way to go. Wearing the Exp II with a suit looks a little out of place to me.

Explorer 214270 is a GREAT watch if you can get past the short minute hand...
I couldn't, otherwise it would be on my wrist. |

Thanks guys for the replies! The reviews and suggestions definitely give me more to think about before deciding on my choice of watch...
I will give this a little time and see if one of these 2 watches really grows on me! Thanks again... |

If I was to get an Explorer II, it would be the older version 16570. If black face, it would be the GMT II BLNR.

Both fantastic pieces, although I think I would lean towards the EXP if for no other reason than there are so many good deals to be had, while the BLNR is still commanding prices close to retail. Heck, if you get tired of the EXP, by that time the hype may have died down on the BLNR.

You could never go wrong with a Sub or GMTII. Both are great for all occasions, dressed up or down.

I'd get the Explorer. But, the choice is yours.

You may as well get both now as you will more than likely have them both eventually anyway.

Forget about all the others. I just took delivery today on my new Explorer I, had it been my first Rolex, I might not be on my third ! !

Expl.II gets my vote.
Less fiddly bezel and won't chip either... Functionally similar.

Both are nice watches, but my vote goes to the Exp II Black - the Explorer II 42mm has a GMT hand that's easier to see! I have one and wear it most days, while my GMT IIc TT sleeps in the drawers. Cheers!

If you need to dress up and down then the GMT II BLNR; the Exp II is more of a tool watch. Personally, I am a dress down sort of guy so I would choose the Exp II.
