Opinions on this 1655?
I'd appreciate opinions on this 1655. It's a 3.5M case.
Does the dial look original, authentic and correct to this case #? Thanks in advance b

The MK2 dial on that watch is fine for the serial number. The bezel is a replacement - MK4 instead of what should be a MK1 or MK2. Looks like a nice 1655 to me.

Thank you. That's very helpful. I had a concern that the top part of the 'L' in 'Rolex' looked a bit angled up instead of being flat/level. Is that a concern? I attached a second pic. Thanks again!

Not sure what to make of that...could it be a distortion from the crystal?

I suppose distortion is possible, but it looks that way in each picture I took. I've asked the seller for additional pics, and ones of the model and serial number.
If the other pics also show this slight bend in the "L" I'm going to take a pass because in looking at many photos of MKII dials I've never seen that.

I managed to zoom in for a better photo. The seller also provided me with its own photo which also shower an angle in the top line of the "L" in "Rolex"… so I don't think it's distortion in the crystal. I have looked at many examples on line and don't see any others which look like this. Therefore, I am thinking this dial is not an authentic MKII dial.

Thank you Marcello! You are a true gentleman and a scholar.
Out of curiosity, have you seen many others with the top part of the "L" angled like this one? I looked at Andrew Shears' archive of sold 1655s in the range of this one and could identify any that had as steep of an angle. They seemed to be flat (or at least flatter) across the top of the "L".

There can be very minor variations even in the same range of dials. We often expect today's exacting standards of stamping/machine work in vintage watches, but there can be slight imperfections/variations on these old dials. Nothing is ever absolutely perfect, especially when you blow up macro photographs to see the details.
