unless you love it, i'd return it and have them put it back to the original. It'll always bother you otherwise.

That is cool. Like Adam said, I would contact them and have them put something in writing on it just to keep it documented.
Other than that, I'd keep it and enjoy the watch as it looks great!

Would love to know what RSC advised about this "mistake".

Dear all Rolex lovers,

RSC is investigating this matter and will get back to me in 2 days. They have pictures and evidence...

I hope no watchmaker loses their job over this...

Stay tuned!

Thanks for the update...this is certainly an interesting case.

I actually like this look and would be inclined to keep it this way...unless the RSC advised they made a mistake and would not service it for the future unless you let them change it back. In that case....I would have to think about it.

Wow. This is wild. Crazy it could make it out of quality control with an incorrect date wheel. It will be interesting to see what they want you to do. I like the green and would keep it if they let me. If you ever want it back original you can just send it in again.

Good stuff...I like the green date wheel. But would love to see the outcome of the investigation.

What are the chances of a BLRO bezel mistakenly put on an SS GMTc? That I would keep very quiet about.

UPDATE:

Dallas RSC acknowledges that they made a mistake and put the wrong disk date wheel on the watch. They said that green date disk only goes on the 18k gold model.

They would not tell me how or why the mistake was made.

They asked me to send the watch back right away...

I said not so fast. I am not going to be without my watch for another 8 weeks.

I asked if I could wait until the next schedule service to change?

They said is up to me and made a note in their database indicating their mistake.

I will be green for 5 years

Book marking this thread for 5 years in future bump :)
-------------
now I am wondering in 5 years if all the disassembly and reassembly to change back the wheel would count as a free inspection schedule service ?

The RSC would not put in writing that they made a mistake.

I have a choice of sending it back or keep it green until next service.

I could also sell it green. All papers included. $8k

What would you do?

You have an offer for 8k? If so, I believe I would take that. BNIB ones are going for the low to mid 7's here...

Wow, first known Rolex modded by Rolex.
Unless I planned to flip it, I'd keep the green myself until I decided to service it. Would definitely want some paper trail to avoid being charged to return it to black at a future service.

The record is on Dallas Rolex Service Center database.

Yes this is an official RSC induced mod.

I think an RSC tech had good taste and said why not green?

How much is a new date wheel anyway?

Did you ask RSC to place the appropriate 18k YG case and bracelet around the green date wheel???
I think that is the least they could do
Enjoy the great mod!!

I would still like to know why the date wheel was changed at all? Unless they swapped a movement intended for an all gold GMT and overlooked that "minor" detail.

I thought date wheels were a service part and replaced at the recommended service intervals?
