I'll be on my annual SF foodie pilgrimage either side of 22nd. Previous year's reports of your GTG looked SO good.....if that becomes the chosen date then I'll look into flying down for the day.

We're going to close out the poll tomorrow, so get your votes in for a date. This will be the last Beverly Hills GTG before the presidential election, which is to say the last GTG before the end of the world, so you will not want to miss this. And as Screamin' Jay Hawkins once said, "I ain't lyin'."

I'm glad because it wouldn't be a BH GTG without you guys.

Update

Mark your calendars. The date of the B.H. GTG is settled.

Date: Saturday, November 5, 2016

Time: 11:30 a.m.

Location: The South Beverly Grill, 122 S Beverly Drive, Beverly Hills, CA 90212.

I will bring the "Hello, My Name Is . . . " tags.

If anyone has any swag that they would like to donate, I will organize a raffle. Last year, thanks to the abundant generosity of the B.H. GTG-ers, we had more raffle prizes (amazing stuff, by the way) than we had attendees. And that's saying something, considering that we had a record turnout. Let's see if we can do as well this year.

Thanks. We have been wanting to visit BH for a while, and this would be a great time to do it.

My wife and I are planning to attend. We are deciding whether to drive (rush hour) or take the train.

Does anyone know the closest train station to Beverly Hills? My wife is researching it and it looks like an Uber from Union station to BH is at least 45 minutes. If there is nothing closer, we will probably just drive up. Right now we are planning a day trip, probably eat an early dinner and return home.

Welcome any suggestions.

Also, if we spend the night, can someone recommend a Hotel in Rodeo Drive? Just for one night.

BH doesn't do trains.

I'd recommend Peninsula hotel wise.

John, that's great that you will be joining us. Your understanding of the train situation is about as good as mine. You would get as far as Union Station (a beautiful structure, by the way, the Parthenon of Los Angeles), then you'd have to get car service the rest of the way.

The Beverly Wilshire Hotel and The Beverly Hills Hotel both have outstanding reputations, and they are historic. I'd stay at either one.

Thanks. We are leaning towards spending the night at the Beverly Wilshire, and taking the train up. We'll just allow time for the trip from Union Station to the Hotel, and then the Grill.

One final question: is the Bev Wilshire walking distance to the South Beverly Grill?

Thanks in advance.

It's about a block and a half. Take it easy on the Mai Tai's, and you should make it in one piece. Be sure to ask for one of Warren Beatty's old suites. He rented a portion of the top floor and lived there full-time when he was a swingin' bachelor in the '60s and '70s.

You could take the train to Union Station and then grab the purple line to the Expo line to Culver City. Short uber ride from Culver City to BH. I'd probably just uber to BH from Union Station though, it will save you a lot of time.

If you're staying the night at the Beverly Wilshire, I highly recommend you make a reservation at CUT for that evening, best steak in LA by a mile.
