Watch of the Month #4

A Vintage 30’s Rolex “Prince” with the rare 300 caliber movement.

This presentation is about a topic not commonly touched on in watch circles; preserving watch movements by re-plating.

Over the years harsh chemicals, used by some in their cleaning process, strip protective plating from the movement surface. Once exposed, these movements prematurely age and loose function.

In most scenarios, a replacement movement can be obtained and serviced to carry on its usefulness except for some who fall into the “collecting” or “sentimental” category.

A. For the Collector, who in this case appreciates James Bond culture & collects Bond memorabilia.
This client’s Rolex 1560 Mainplate is not only of a 1016 Rolex Explorer like the one Ian Fleming wore, but his & Fleming's numbers are close enough that one could assume they were made at the same time or close to.

For good reason this client’s Mainplate has already been well preserved
