What do you do with your watch when you are at the gym?

They gym I workout in is not set up like most traditional gyms. Its basically an old wear house with some equipment in it for Crossfit classes. There is no locker room and no lockers in the gym. Its a very friendly, everyone knows everyone atmosphere. People just toss their bags on the shelves by the desk while they are working out. No place what so ever to lock up valuables inside the building. I've worked out here for sometime now and have never had a problem or heard of anyone having a problem. With that said I don't want to be the first either. Leaving my watch in my gym bag thrown on a shelf is not an option either. I am considering leaving my watch locked up in my brief case in the trunk of my car but to be honest, even that too makes me a tad nervous. I wish the place had lockers inside I could put my own lock on it and not have to worry.

I leave it in my locked office since I take lunchtime to quickly got weights. Other things I do outdoors at home /local park. I wouldn't bring a watch to gym, no point.

I agree. My wife lost her ipod and Oakley glasses in a high scale gym.
In short Gyms are not safe.

So many things can go wrong when you bring your Rolex to the gym. Why risk it?

I wear mine. Use YG sub to track 60 minutes of cardio. Get funny looks sometimes.

Either don't wear it to the gym, or don't take it off the wrist.

Leave home.

Personally never had a reason to wear a Rolex while working out. Besides risk of smashing/catching on something, things on my wrists get in the way of working out just like cables and headphones.

IMO, wearing a Rolex while lifting weights gives off the same vibe as dudes who wear superman shirts, the guys who wear spandex pants and the guys who grunt waaay too much.

I always lock it in the glove compartment of my car and park infront of a camera. Don't trust the lockers in my gym or the people that work there.

If you can't get home before the gym, I'd definitely lock and hide it in your car. Not in the obvious trunk, glove compartment, etc....
As far as wearing your rolex for a hard workout....seems out of place (imho) but, to each their own :)

Our club has a gym I use and before renovations started I had my own locker, with lock.
Now if it's on everest I'll sometimes wear it, if not then I leave it at home. I also have insurance on each piece for peace of mind.

For you, I'd put it a casebudi case before entering the building and hide it under some clothes etc in your bag. If no one knows you have it they won't be looking for it.
Or, ask one of the trainers if they have an office safe or something along those lines

Lately I've been wearing a WG sub/smurf and I wear it while working out. Until it has a leather strap I would wear it.

If someone knows it's in the locker and wants it, putting your own lock on it won't make much difference. I would either wear it or don't bring it all.

I switch watches to an older Tag diver from my university days and leave my Rolex at home. It's my gym watch now.

I go to a gym 2-3 times weekly and always wear a Rolex. As far as I can tell, the lockers just keep an honest person out. Between the electronic keys management has and the flimsy construction of the locker, the safest place to store 7-35k USD is right on your wrist.

Oh, I take my Rolex into the sauna first, before lifting and cardio.

Chaps

Going to the gym is a boring waste of time. In fact it is more boring than the most boring thing on earth. You would be better off going for a walk, playing a round of golf or doing a bit of mountain trekking. These are all very healthy and the enjoyment is enhanced by wearing your Rolex.

In July of this year I will be partaking in the annual bull run in Pamplona in Spain, where I shall be chased by six raging bulls, each one hoping to shove its horn up my ass. I shall be running like hell for a few minutes which will be very exciting to say the least. I shall also be wearing my 39mm Explorer. This is what you call exercise, not mind numbing repetitions in a gym.

Here is a youtube clip for those of a non Spanish disposition.

OP, what part of NC are you in?

I've had money stolen out of my wallet in my pants in a locked locker at a gym, so now I trust no one. I now change at home (it's on the way) before going to the gym and leave the watch there. Otherwise, I'll just wear it even though I know it looks silly, but it goes good with my spandex pants, Kristofer.
