Crossfitter/weightlifter. I've never worn a watch to the gym. It would get damaged for sure...barbell, kettlebell, rig...too many things it would bang against.

Some days I just wear a relatively inexpensive watch and leave it in my car. On the days that I really feel like wearing a nice watch and am also going to the gym I put it in a Casebudi and hide it in the taillight access compartment in the trunk of my car. I should note that I only hide /retrieve it when I'm at home in the garage or in the private carport at work.

I work out daily and I'm actually in the business. I've worn either my Patek Aquanaut, sub or sea dweller each and every day while working out. They all run perfectly... never had any problems. Watches are meant to be worn!

I wear it if I go to the gym at university, if I'm going from home my watch stays in the safe. Anything else is madness IMO.

Been straight from work to an ice skating session in the past, which meant my Rolex was on my wrist; in that instance, the watch was left locked in my car in the further lockable glovebox as a fall on ice would definitely do some damage.
I'm all for the fact that the watch is made to be worn, but personally I feel you need to apply a degree of risk assessment - why put a multi-thousand dollar/pound watch in harms' way needlessly? That said... even locking it in my car left me a bit nervous, and leaving in a gym locker more so. Leaving it at home is always the best bet where possible. |

Going to the gym is not the most boring thing in the world, watching cricket is the most boring thing in the world. None of your suggested activities can increase strength. One must lift heavy things repeatedly to increase strength. And none of your suggestions increase speed, endurance, or agility. You have to train to get improvements there, and running with bulls requires those attributes. I recommend you spend 90 minutes per day running full speed on a treadmill that offers a 15 degree incline. Then spend 30 minutes a day on a good agility training regimen. And, have a good proctologist on standby. You may wear your Explorer, but only if you're dressed smartly. |

I at least have a fighting chance of survival with the bulls Regards Mick. |

I never wear my rolex at the gym. It is uncomfortable do any type of exercises with the watch bracelet moving around... and I also can't trust anyone to leave it in a locker or any other place.

This is really quite simple:
If you are just going to the gym and then back home and don't want to wear your watch while working out, leave it at home. If you are coming from, or going to work, it's foolish to NOT wear a watch you enjoy all day, just so you don't have to deal with it at the gym. I wore a DJ to the gym for 20 or 25 years straight because I came from work. The watch is fine (it just turned 32). I didn't realize until I came here 1/2 a year ago that apparently everyone in the club all these years could recognize my complete douchiness from across the gym because I was wearing a nice watch. Not a single person has ever mentioned my watch to me in 30+ years of going to the gym 2-3x/week. I guess everyone notices but is too chill to comment. Thank god. The dumbest thing you can do is stick an expensive watch in your locker. If you think your watch can't handle you doing curls or bench pressing or whatever, put it in a pouch you trust and leave it in your pocket.

On a typical day I wear my Breitling Colt or Tudor BB. I always wear them, handy for timing rest periods etc, I would never leave in locker.

When I go to the gym I take off my watch and put it in a casebudi before I even get in the parking lot. I don't want anyone around there knowing I have a nice watch period. I put the casebudi in my gym bag and walk into the changing room where they have lockers. I always pick a locker close to the entrance as the room has a good amount of traffic. I place my lock on it but if someone really wanted to break into a locker they could do it but the idea is to never give someone a reason to think there is anything good in there. I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving it in the car as I believe they have had issues with cars being broken into before. I figure it's safer unknown in the locker.

i wear my apple watch on gym days 4 a week
the other 3 i wear my rolex. i like being able to control the music and would not trust a locker with a watch that cost many thousands. i wear the rolex after i get home on gym days so it still gets some wrist time |

I leave it at home if possible... If not, it stays in the glovebox, in my soft-top samurai.
Oh, the glovebox has a locker. And I see my car when I train!
