I've used to have both but then one had to go, so I asked myself the same question and realized that I'm really into submariners, so I go for the subs

If we're talking older models then it's a toss up because the Pepsi GMT is awesome.
But if newer, then Sub for me. I don't have use for a GMT function really and prefer the countdown bezel of the Sub. But more importantly I want the Glidelock bracelet without PCLs. |

I have a GMTIIC and if given the choice now, would get a Sub. Just a more classic all around sports watch. The GMT is dressier, but I don't love the PCLs, and wouldn't get a Rolex with them again.

GMT for me, just that little tad less obvious than the Sub. I like that. Tough a glide lock would admittedly have been a great addition.

5 digit GMT. More comfortable, brushed CLs, more comfy, can also use bezel as a timer, additional complication is awesome to have, Pepsi bezel is a great pop of colour.

GMT, does 2 time zones with ease, more bang for the buck than the comparable Sub.

I have both. If I could only have one, I would give the nod to the GMT because I travel quite a bit and use the complication often. Must admit, I can get a better fit sub for my wrist with the glidelock versus the easylink.

GMT. I bought my first Rolex in 1984 because this guy had one. While I love the size and blue lume of the 216570, there's nothing like a 16710 Pepsi.
Thanks to Jake's Rolex World for the photo

GMT. Can't really explain why, it's just a visual thing after putting them on one after the other. Yes, the GMT is busier and yes, it does have polished center links. I guess those must be the qualities that makes me like it more.

the Sub. You can use its bezel for a second time zone when you need it, or other purposes, while having a cleaner looking watch. It can do anything you would need in real life and still have that classic look. At first i thought i would miss not having PCLs, but after owning a Sub i realised i like it a lot more with them brushed.

GMT.
I did some research online of the most useful complications in a watch number one was the date and number two was a GMT feature. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Can't go wrong with neither of both icon watches. For me if I had to choose, the Sub because of already mentioned reasons: glidelock clasp and bcl. Although I travel more than I dive....

Sub for me, the GMT complication is redundant as I am capable of simple arithmetic. Here's one of mine:
