Adding a 5711r to a 5711a blue

Has anyone done this? I love my 5711. It's comfortable, stealth to all but WIS, and it just feels like a special watch. I've only run into 2 other nautiluses ever, in the wild.

That said, I really like rose gold, and while yeah, it's the same watch, it'll feel different enough, and it's a different color, at the very least.

Really, I'm just looking for enablers or smack in the head. I've also considered the 5980a, but I'm not really sold on the thickness or weight.

I also have a 5164a and a lange 1815 chrono boutique in white gold, if you want to consider how a 5711r might or might not fit into my collection.

I think a Rose gold watch would fit really nicely into your collection, but it almost seems a shame to buy the same watch again when there are many other options and complications to try. Of course if you love it then go for it, it's a beauty for sure.

I've considered adding a 5712r to my 5711. Nothing wrong with having a 5711 and 5711/1r

Well having recently added a 5711 I too think it's a great watch! But I would not add two of them unless you're collection is much larger! I mean, I shouldn't be talking as I have 4 daytonas at the moment, but none of the same reference number. Best regards.

I think that's fine, I mean I have a 5712 and a 5711, so very similar watches but love having both

I don't think it's too duplicative with the 5711/1a. A very different look and feel on the wrist.

If you think it's too similar though, have you considered the 15202 rg? Personally I'd get the Patek, but the AP is also truly beautiful.

@russw I agree, the 15202OR is a gorgeous piece.

I have thought about trading in my 15400 for a 15202, but I rotate between 7 watches, and prefer either no date or quick set date. I'm not a fan of winders. I've read that the 15202 date mechanism can be finicky as well. Any experience with it?

No experience with the 15202. The date is finicky, although AP make a tool that attaches to the crown that allows you to rapidly cycle the hands back and forth and makes setting the date easier. I think Kari has one.

I found 15202 date changing a pain, especially if left idle for a few days

I'd own both 5711s, they are that good

Sure you could have both, esp as you have a lot of other watches too. It's a beauty.

I don't think I would personally end up keeping both but I would add and see how it shakes out. That 5711 in rose gold is

I am also thinking of adding the 5711r to my 5711 1a. Also have an AP 15400OR blue face. This watch stuff is crazy.

I like the idea and it would be a sweet duo, but I'd also consider the 5712r for a change of pace. Either would be a win, though.

I would go 5712r. Well, i would, wouldn't i?

Seriously, the 12 will be lighter due to no full bracelet and a bit less in your face than a full rose gold piece with bracelet. Will also give you a slightly different variation on the same theme. Rather than exactly the same in a different metal.

Not everyone likes assymetrical dials though. I do!

I do appreciate the 5712, but I'm not a fan of the asymmetry, and I like the bracelet on all of the Genta watches. There are just a lot of complications, while impressive, just aren't for me. I'm not all that into moonphases, or anything with a calendar, since of my aforementioned aversion to winders. I also have 4 other watches that I haven't listed that I wear regularly, but they're a dress watch and a couple of watches that I wear when I bike around the city/am a bit more active, and don't care too much about dings.

My pleasure, my friend, and sounds like you got a very good deal too!

Will be a couple of 1R incomings to look forward to now.

Haha, no it didn't. I preach had the gears in motion, and the watch was already on the table. I just needed to talk it out a little bit with my fellow WIS, to make sure that I wasn't 100% crazy. We're all at least 75% crazy, otherwise, we wouldn't be on here!
