Is this white gold presidential rare?

My friend offered to sell me his white gold presidential for 12,000$ . I've never seen one with the diamonds on the lugs. He says they're factory diamonds. Have you ever seen one like this? And is 12k a fair price? Thanks in advance.IMG_3122.jpg

(1) that is not a president bracelet-- it is a Day Date on an oyster bracelet; (2) diamonds in the lugs are hideous imo

Looks legit to me. They are asking $22k+ for these on chrono24. If it's real and you like it, then $12k would seem to be too good to be true.

Nice call.. However with the asking price most everywhere else at 25-35k, 12k seems kind of fishy. OP, since he's your friend, have it looked over and if it's the real deal jump on it...

Take it to an authorized dealer and open it up, then go from there.

Does it have the box and papers?

No box or papers but he's willing to take it anywhere I prefer to check authenticity. I know it's 100% real. I just wanted the opinion of the TRF on the price.

The beauty of the DayDate is the President bracelet imo.

I can see why it would be cheaper as it's just a steel Oyster ? With WG fluted bezel ?.

Buy the seller. Where did your friend get it from ?, does he need cash quick ?, why is he selling ?. Ask a few questions.

Just take it to a AD to get it looked over if you are interested though.

For me, if I was getting a DayDate, it'd have to have a president bracelet. Beautiful model though .

Rolex makes WG and YG oyster bracelets for the DD. This is WG. You can tell by the hidden clasp.

Diamonds look to be done by Rolex, my father has the same on his DD. Great deal for $12k.

Whats your wrist size? That should be a 36mm but on your wrist it looks like a 41mm.

That is genuine. The WG Rolex Prez with Oyster Bracelet comes with diamond lugs. Usually smooth bezel though if I remember correctly?

Wow people saying it's fake because they have not seen it before ? Let me tell you the day date has so many configurations over the years you can never know them all. This is quite a common a set up, how many diamonds on each lug ? Or a close up pic is needed to establish if the lug setting is original or the watches model number will tell you also if those diamonds are factory set it's found on the case. It's a steal if original at that price.

So....we have no consensus.
Maybe I'm naive, but this is incredibly disheartening to read for those of us who, at least, want to rely on the wisdom of this forum.

I would go with David (crowncollection) on this.

Better pictures would clarify the assessment though.

I need to see the setting, as a crowncollection model, the model number will indicate factory diamond setting on the lugs, the amount of diamonds changed over the years also, so that's a tell also. More info needed I am hesitant to make judgements until I am sure.
118339 is the correct model number.

I've owned two of them and until I see better pics of the lugs I stay with my previous statement.

Please try to understand. Contributing factors to any incredulity about this watch are the quality of the pictures and the price that seems too good to be true.

Experts on here can only make accurate assessments with clear images. Everyone tries to do the best they can with what they are given. To say it is disheartening is a little dramatic. If you ever want concrete answers send the watch to RSC for servicing, or have it inspected in person by a CW21 certified watch repairer.

Jason, I totally agree, and maybe "disheartening" wasn't the best term! That said, and I certainly understand what you're saying, I was making more of a general statement about how people here looking for answers, or at least some clarity, place a lot of (perhaps too much) trust that they will get a solid definitive answer. I've been very active (on nearly every day) on this forum for a number of years now and certainly appreciate that this is often less a science and more knowledge-based speculation.

What worries me is that every time I see disagreement among veteran members here, whom I've certainly trusted with evaluating watches of mine in the past, I'm left with this:
Should I believe the guy telling me what I want to hear, and then go forward regarding that as fact in a future transaction?

I've spoken to a number of these same experts on the phone and, man, will you get some eye-opening, and candid opinions on other members', and dealers' abilities and scrupulousness. And while the comradeship on the forum is wonderful, it's not always the case when you speak outside of the arena! Maybe that's a dirty little secret, but it's not untrue.

I guess what I'm saying is, and while it should be obvious, it needs to be noted that this isn't an exact science, or art, and going forward with a transaction based on info found here, should come with some room for doubt. And with the money that these watches are commanding these days, it gets a little scary (see: the amazing Luke Rotman thread about the 6202).
Finally, I am shamelessly addicted to this forum and I love this place. Truly.

Interesting how the divides happen like this but it does seem very cheap which normally rings the biggest alarm bells. A quick google shows some available in your country for $24k

I'd take him up on the offer of getting it authenticated, unless you were there when he bought it at an AD!

Three things that would concern me

No box or papers on a very expensive watch
The price
The look of the day writing (just my hunch as I know zilch officially but looks odd?)

Hope it turns out well for you!
