By the way I wonder when they will replace the 5980, and by what, can't imagine a sport line not having a SS chrono, sure the 5990 does chrono but it's not the same thing, I expect they will release a new chrono only model sooner or later...

I think a chrono only model will be later. Much, much later. The 5990 is the replacement for the 5980, even if not like for like.

I have the same watch and wear it everyday... I can't seem to get it off my wrist. Every morning when it's time to make the decision which watch I'm going to wear... it's always my 5980/1a that wins!! Great watch and awesome combo...

You are probably right Russ, but as much as I can appreciate the 5980, the 5990 has really 0 appeal for me, which doesn't really matter as I have no desire for a chrono, that was the first part of my watch journey 20 years ago, now I am over chronos, some look great but never used mine unless for cooking eggs or pasta, if I am gonna pay extra for complications I would want some I use often

Same thing with my 5712, when my watches are at home it gets 90% wear, so now they are at the bank and I get a new one once a week

Truthfully

I like the Rolex much better. And I own a lot of PP. No comparison.

Great looking watch Congratulations and enjoy your new watch

The 5980 will be a classic, remembered as Patek's first automatic chrono watch.
