Thank you to everyone for all of your responses! I guess I already knew my decision posting in a Patek subforum.

I officially purchased my first Patek this morning! For now I am trading the Daytona and will liquidate the other pieces of my collection over the coming months. The GMT will be the last to go, so it has the greatest chance of staying.

I think the understated nature of the Patek will be the most welcome change from the Daytona and GMT. As much as I would like to say I don't care what others think, a recognizable Rolex in the workplace can be a polarizing thing.

Good decision, at least with Patek very few people will know what it is, and I agree about the often negative image that a Rolex gives, when people I knew saw them they told me "what you have a Rolex?" It wasn't negative but clearly not positive either, I love high end horology because apart 0,1% of the population the others usually don't know at all what you are wearing, and if they ask, never happened to me, you can always say it's nothing special. Congrats on the incoming

Good decision. I did something similar and sold my ceramic sub and my polar explorer to fund my 5167. Never looked back.

Sell the Daytona, keep the GMT and get the 5167. I love mine, stylish, comfortable and under the radar.

Congratulations! I look forward to seeing the pictures!

I'm going through the same process myself. Although I'm still undecided between 5167 and 5711, I have already become a one-watch guy with my Root Beer GMT. It'll be hard to part with it eventually, but I think that it's worth it!

What do you think about going from 5167 to 5711?

Can you swing keeping the Root Beer GMT and add the 5167? I'm an on and off one-watch guy :) My SubC Date will always be the keeper.

I think you made the right decision. I was going to recommend getting the 5167, selling everything else and keeping the GMT as the beater. That's a perfect two-watch combo.

Side by side with my GMT. You can probably tell what inspired this purchase. The GMT will be going back onto the bracelet soon.

I would keep the Rolexes, and save up. Then skip the Aqua, and get a Nautilus.

Between the 5167 and 5711, I am stuck between a rock and a hard place! I think ultimately my decision comes down to whether I want that one watch with a rubber strap or on a bracelet. (I have actually had the chance to contemplate and try on a 5167 with the bracelet, too. It just doesn't do anything for me. It seems counter-intuitive in terms of that design, which does away with the integrated bracelet while still playing around with the idea in the way that the rubber strap sits flush with the case and reflects the pattern on the dial.)

Keeping the 16753 and going with a 5167 could be an option, I guess, yes. I congratulate the OP on doing it!

Yet. . . Perhaps I am taking it too seriously, but I feel there is something liberating about my current situation. No winders, no watch boxes, no travel pouches, and soon enough no complications. . . Just strap on that watch and go. I look forward to doing that with a PP whether it is an Aquanaut or a Nautilus!

I sold a Daytona 116520 and a Sub Date 116610 to get my Aquanaut.

I miss the Daytona, but I would do it again.

If you're sure that's the one you want go for it, considering you'll wear this one the most think if you'll need the bracelet or not, better to buy on a bracelet and get the tropical strap and clasp than the other way around.

I find the 5167 bracelet to shiny being all polished, that's why I passed on it.

I actually like the 5167 bracelet, it dresses up the watch and it is also a unique design. The detailing and comfort on the bracelet is amazing.

My other watch is a BLNR. I love it. But reading this post makes me want to leave the office and get my Aquanaut.....

That should tell you the difference between the watches you have and the watch you want....

It's a nice watch...very lightweight. I wouldn't sell my two Rolex for it though.
