Watch store in Cali robbed

I saw on the news today a watch store in California was robbed today and the staff was maced and the watch case was smashed and it looks like some watches where take. Then the store owner comes out with his gun and the robbers flee the store. Anyone have any more info about this incident and what if anything was taken? Or if anyone was hurt? I believe the suspects are still on the run.

Good news!
The first suspect attempted to grab items from the case, but the owner managed to fight the men off before they could steal anything.

How come every video surveillance camera has a 0.5 megapixel resolution?

My iPhone has better zoom in clarity than that security footage.

Scary, Walnut Creek is a really nice city. Be careful out there, glad nothing was taken.

I live a few towns over from WC, but I've never heard of this store. Good to hear that no one was hurt.

My thoughts too. Security cameras have improved significantly in recent years. I changed all mine to 1080p a few years back. I can read the brand on your sunglasses now.

This guy needs an upgrade before it happens again.

I know the owner, he's a terrific guy & im glad he's ok! Davidson & Licht our local Rolex AD had a daylight smash & grab a few years ago......I live in the area, it's gotten very hip, a lot of expensive stuff in the stores now.....brings the sleazebags in.......I work retail, high end footwear & we've had shoplifters.......I need a concealed carry permit now!

Walnut Creek is right next to some Ghetto areas. Davidson and Licht always has door men/security. They also have signs you have to give them your ID to try a watch on (though they have never asked for mine).

Watch store in Cali robbed

This is crazy. OC Watch Co. is a few minutes from where I work so I visit every now and then. Cool small store. They carry Rolex, Panerai, Omega, and a few other brands, both vintage and modern. The owner, Kyle, is a WIS and a great guy. Glad to hear that he was able to fight off the perps before they stole anything. I hope the scumbags get what they deserve.

Walnut Creek is a nice area that sits right in the middle of rougher cities like Oakland, Vallejo, and Pittsburg/Antioch. It's also crossed by two major freeways, which makes getaways easier. I can see how thieves would target a small store in an area like that.

Hey. So I found out after a lot of these news networks do stories the news crew sometimes just films the computer screen for their footage. Which is terrible IMO. If you see the KTVU footage it is much better. They took the footage back to the station and edited it there. All 9 of my camera's in the store are 1080P:). I posted a link that should pop up in this thread soon of it but in sure you can google KTVU footage. Also KRON4 left out the ending of the footage. Hope that helped.

Wow very dramatic footage , glad you're ok and nothing was stolen , good restraint in not pulling the trigger too , you don't want that added drama even though they deserved it

Wow, it's amazing how fast everything happened...not the robbers first attempt at this I think. Glad the victims were not seriously hurt.

I still do not understand why these places do not use a safety type glass that is glued to a plastic sheet or plexi.

I had just purchased this showcase from another jeweler and was having laminated glass installed the next week. Hows that for timing... The reason stores don't use plexiglass is just like an acrylic crystal. It scratches. Yes strong but scratches very easily.

WOW! Glad nobody was hurt, no watches were stolen and the customer that was in the store looking bought the Rolex he was looking at!

Fast reactions by the owner really made the difference.
