Sky-Dweller or Day-Date?
I have liked the Day-Date a long time even before i got into this Rolex hobby. And i thought its the watch i eventually want to wear, engrave it etc, but i just need the real cause to buy it. Because i think its better when you wear it and it reminds you of something good, not just that i gave 50k to AD and got this in exchange. The grail thing, you gentlemen certainly know what i am trying to say.
But, Sky-Dweller SS has now kind of changed these thoughts of mine. I think i can buy it without any specific cause, just because it's an beautiful item. It starts to be that watch i eventually want to wear and slowly moves to position which Day-Date has in my hierarchy of Rolexes. Anyway, right now i started to think more clearly. I buy them both :) Happy friday!

Day-Date all day long for me, such a beautiful piece that I hope one day I'm fortunate enough to get the option to buy.

Day-Date for me. It is the only PM Rolex I would ever add to my collection.

I like the DD because of its prestige, and size. I prefer the 40mm to anything else, save for the 36mm DD.
Plus I like the President Bracelet looks-wise better than the Oyster, on the President models only...

I could not afford both, but since I am sending YOUR money, I voted for both. If i had to choose just one, the SD would get my vote.

The Day Date is the classic Rolex; the Skydŵeller doesn't seem a classic anything. Too big, too lumpy . So DD it is .....

Really like the Sky Dweller, however, if I really were to part with my hard earned money, I could likely not get over the thickness. The Day Date however, especially in 60th anniversary dress... Well one day.

Day-date all the way. They're many nice things to look at but it doesn't mean you need to own them.

Day Date? I know,"heresy." Sorry. The Sky Dweller may never be the classic that the DD represents either. For me, "neither" would be the answer, but between the two, the DD may be the better solution as you already have a strong affinity for that style.

I recently tried on the day-date and felt like it was more for my dad than me. Skydweller on the other hand felt more modern and you cant go wrong with that movement!

DD40 is the better aesthetic design and the 42mm, thicker SkyDweller is not as friendly to my 6" wrist.
The classic dial, President bracelet and 'precious metal only' nature of the DD40 do it for me. I did get very excited when I saw the Basel releases but I've calmed down now and realise I still prefer the DD. |

Sky-Dweller or Day-Date?
SD boggles my mind. One beautiful watch. I've never seen one in person however (much less on my wrist) and I would need to do that before I could even consider getting one. The Day Date, however, is in size similar to other watches and is close enough to my Datejust, in appearance so I could imagine getting one sight unseen. Obviously if you are one of the favored few who can get both... why not (or were you joking?)!

I've been wearing a yellow gold DayDate for over 40 years. It would be the last watch I'd sell. Extremely beautiful and ever classic Rolex. It's held up well. It looks good and keeps excellent time.
