I guess the only thing to consider is before sending something out for repair, I would make certain you have insurance for loss. While the Op knows the watchmaker and the project is progressing, I would be comfortable. I’m sure this sort of resto takes months. Covid compounded the issue. Still, before I mail or repair anything I insure it. Maybe narambeen should ask for a formal appraisal from the watchmaker as a freebie for graciously waiting. A good appraisal is key, and costs $100 where I live... but can mean thousands of $$$ of payout

Well that was odd! I was indeed banned. I tried to sign in Monday night and was welcomed with a pop-up saying I was banned (no reason listed). I sent an email to the provided email address, and received a response asking where I got the photos in one my sale listings.

Through a well-respected forum member/friend, I sent a mod current photos of the item in question. They responded “OK you’re reinstated”. I’m guessing they were just using an overabundance of caution? In any case, all is well here.

Glenn, I've enjoyed your passion and patience with restoring your step-father's watch. If you're ever in New Orleans let me know...you sound like a great time.

I'm disappointed I reached page 27 and you haven't gotten your watch back but hang in there...you're setting a good example for all of us.
