Really?
5712 discontinuation rumour spreading from Watchfinder. Probably more a sign that they want to offload some stock...
I thought that Patek had already sent this years discontinued list to dealers and the 5712 wasn’t on it. |

They indicated rumours and end with a question mark. I think this is just marketing because the discontinuation list does not include the 5712. Next year perhaps?

Certainly it is marketing, it is reasonable to assume 5712/1A would be discontinued next year as it has been in production for some time now

I have seen knock-on price increase of 5712, 5726 and 5990 in the past few weeks. I think the market is already factoring their discontinuance?

It is reasonable to assume 5712/1A, 5980R, and 5990 will be discontinued next year but I don't think 5726/1A blue will be discontinued next year

Well the 5711 and 5712 were introduced in 2006. 15 years ago.
The the aquanaut in 2007. So maybe it’s just a 15 year refresh. Not really a discontinuation.

It’s not on the list for this year but possible for next year. Like all other dealers they just want to cash in on fomo and speculation.
In fairness the 5712 is just a better watch for me than 5711 and with useful complications and unique layout very nice looking dial. It certainly justifies a price tag similar too if not higher than 5711. Also slimmer and great movement 240 micro vs more hefty 5726 and 5990. For me it’s the best nautilus made. |

Sheetstirring to fuel prices has become their day job. Look at the Hulk, the greys started that rumour and even tho it took three years to actually materialise the price had already nearly doubled in that time.

To be fair, it took the actual discontinuation for prices to double. It grew over the years commensurate to the market then a peak upon discontinuation...rather than one big jump like the 5711 white (which was unexpected)

These nautilus at 100k are not moving. You need some news to spur the emotion and instil desirability into watches that cost more than a grand complication.

With all the Nautilus line at 100k....
Make the Aquanaut line selling like hot cake for under 100k..... Especially the SS Aquanaut.....

Seriously. This is just wholesale dealers trading with small grey dealers trading with top grey dealers, perpetuating the fact that any hot watch discontinued is all of a sudden worth 30-50% more.

News flash - all models will be discontinued at some point, but do you want to pay a premium today when that isn’t the case? Some who may benefit from such want you to.
Also I have noticed no 5711 moving above $100k...expect perhaps a one-off buyer looking for NIB. Otherwise, not happening. Price Elasticity of Demand comes to mind. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Not necessarily a unique layout - that one has been used on a LOT of PP watches (including the 5085/1A aka Neptune). But I feel it is a watch that justifies its price more than 5711, while being as comfortable as 5711 aka perfect.
