If so, it's about damn time. The 5740g clasp is awesome (same as my wife's 7118....she will never know the pain of the older Nautilus clasps).

Have they already started shipping the 5980 with the new clasp? Those pics look like they have been taken at an AD.

I'm not fussed about the old clasp as I know how to leverage and open it without any hassle, but a micro adjustment feature would be nice.

I have found that using all three of my hands the old clasp works very nicely.

I heard all the fuss about the old clasp and I have never really had beef with it.

The old clasp takes a little time to get used to but it works well with the 1970s design of the Nautilus. No big deal either way I think.

How do I find when my watch was manufactured? I picked my 5712/1A from the AD earlier thus month and I've got the "old" style clasp.

After 5 years you can order an Extract from the Archives for a fee from Patek which will include the manufacturing date. |

That new clasp looks very similar to the Vacheron Constantin Overseas clasp. i like the old clasp as it looks exactly like the original 1976 3700. although i don't know if it will age well

The butterfly clasp in the 5740, or whatever you'd like to call it, is absolutely not better than the old design. Those wings bite into your wrist. Having said that, the lack of adjustability has always been my largest complaint with Patek bracelets.

it does leave an imprint on my arm (the latch area) so i thought it was tight. but when i wear the watch and raise my arm the watch slides down so it was loose. I had to buy a 1.5 link to test the theory about it being loose. When I wear the 1.5 link it fits perfect, watch does not slide anymore but protruding part still bothers me once in awhile. |

Had 5740/1g briefly and put away after wearing it for hours. The clasp is too painful to my wrist. Never like it at all.

I agree. The clasp on the 5740 digs into your wrist making it rather uncomfortable. I much prefer the old clasp, it does not dig into the wrist. No problems opening or closing it either. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So, the PM Nautilus bracelet has been given an upgraded clasp which is the same as the one on the 5167/1a, their most basic entry level SS watch? Truly revolutionary.

I just received my 5980AR last week and it had the new butterfly clasp as on my 5740P. I was pleasantly surprised to find that as I had expected the old design buckle
