Vintage Rolex trends on IG

I’m bit of an Instagram goof and here are some stuff that I see getting increasingly popular month by month on IG...

-Glossy dials sport Rolexes
-Blue dialed DJ’s
-1016
-1675 (mostly Pepsi insert)

Any other IG morons like me that have input on trends you see?

What!? Artificial patina on 16610...interesting...do they think that the patina will bring a premium price once they sell the watch?

I would imagine that WGS dials are easier to doctor than Matt or gilt dials because of the way the tritium is contained.

I thought those were banned on IG!

If I see another IG post about a modern Daytona, I'm going to scream. And if I see another IG post asking, "What do you prefer, the white or black Daytona?" I'm going to jump out the window ... while screaming.

Yes. I would say it's an effort to create a "neo-vintage" premium for tritium sapphire pieces. Personally, I like the look of a 1990s 14060 or 16610 with yellow lume.

Correct my friend, I've seen a couple lately from the San Frascisco area. Stay safe.

If the game is rigged, you can't lose if you don't play! With that said, it is best to steer clear of these bogus patined classic or neo vintage watches - unless you are 100% sure what you are doing.

Ive heard a lot of discussion on what neo-vintage means. I think we should be using contemporary, modern, discontinued or pre-owned for 90s and early 2ks. I think neo-vintage should be used for a modern re-issue of a vintage piece. Its confusing as watch blogs seem to be using them interchangeably.

And dealers are happy to use it if they feel it will fetch a better price.

I think a Navitimer AOPA re-issue, the Nivada Grenchen CASD's, and the Hamilton Khaki Field mechanicals fit "neo-vintage" best.

The semantics don't matter to me, but there are plenty of other threads arguing about these terms if you want to join in.

My point was simply that people are trying to establish a distinct market for tritium-sapphire pieces with yellowed lume, that can bring a premium over SL-sapphire pieces. And frankly I think they will succeed.
