Didn't you state a lapping machine would not round off the top edges of lugs and bezel teeth? Now maybe at 53 years old my vision has dropped off a bit, but both look rounded and soft instead of crisp and sharp IMHO. Perhaps I expect too much.

Everything in the photo looks soft, it’s not in perfect focus. (Or it’s a little over compressed)

You’re right, the lapping machine doesn’t round off the edges (unless something has gone terribly wrong however it wouldn’t look like the watch we are discussing), but you still have to polish the sides after they have been lapped.

All the lapping machine does is uses a series of increasingly finer grits to remove the surface material to the desired depth, thus removing scratches and dents. It does not produce a mirror finish.

I’d guess the protective stickers make it look worse.

If you look at the case side and sticker area the light catches the edge and no doubt makes it look worse as it’s highlighted against the sticker and top surface.

I would be crying and wanting the edges back. The case has lost it's definition. The "work" on the bezel is insane. If you ask me you should get a new bezel, that is completely toothless/ruined. The polish was done by a human being who may not have been having a great day.

The instructions you should give are "DO NOT POLISH". They should be given many times and in writing. Placing stickers on the watch with those words might be a good idea when you send it in.

A touch up is not going to bring that bezel back from the dead.

A lapping machine is a rotating disk, there's a limit of what you can refinish with them.

These cases are done with belt grinders on the sides, from 300 grit (if needed) all the way up to 3000 and then a final polish. Still even if you're careful you will soften up that edge.

As originally stated the quality of the polishing & brushed finish are perfectly fine. I am more disappointed that RSC made the edges of the case softer & more rounded. Even after 9 years of use the edges of the case were razor sharp and crispy before RSC got it. I expected it to come back just as sharp if not better.

Have you got a link to the thread where Rolliworks cut a chamfer the width of the I-10?

Watch looks good.

Cutting "sharp edges" during a refinish requires removal of steel to make those chamfers stand out. Do that too many times and you will destroy the edges of the case beyond repair.

After a few weeks of actual use the edges always become softened naturally.

Larry do you actually own any 6 digit references? Because there are no chamfers on the lugs. As I type this wearing my daily wear 116618 Sub for the last 2 1/2 years the case edges are still as sharp as the day I received the watch brand new.

To the people who think this is a "good" job, would you honestly be happy if your watch was fundamentally altered like this? Someone has obviously put a lot of time and effort into doing this consistently for the whole case and bezel, but I can't help but wonder why. Didn't they like the way this watch comes from the factory? Did they think it was their mission to "improve" it? Would you be happy to buy this watch?

While the work done on the case may be debatable I don't think there can be much room for debate as far as the bezel is concerned.

Impossible to make a judgement based on those two images. Let it go and get a grip?

??? So is it a water color?

Here is another image and I promise you it is a photo. By they way, do you have some kind of vested interest in this? Was it you who did this "work"?
