Watch jumped from +2s/day to +12s/day – magnetized!
I never had a watch magnetize before. I started having to reset my watch weekly and discovered it running about 12s/day fast. My AD said it was more than likely magnetized. I made the trip to my AD and they demagnetized my watch while I looked at the vintage watches for sale. She said they get about 2-3 watches a month that need demagnetizing. I was happy the demagnetizing process did not require opening the case. I was out the door in 30min. Now my Polar Explorer is back to +2s/day.

FYI you can buy a demagnetizing device for close to nothing on the internet and it will then take you no more than a couple of seconds to do it yourself...... Oli |

I've bought one of those devices. Haven't had to use it yet but a time will come.

Before you use one of the cheaper demagnetisers, do your homework on how to use it properly. You can make the watch a lot worse if not done properly…..there are a number videos on YouTube that will show you how to do it properly.

Likely, it happens to my 16610 several times a year. Sometimes even when its +8 per day, I run it over the blue de-magnetizer and boom, back to +2-3 per day.

Yeah, so a lot of people work on laptops, and a lot of laptops have magnets in the deck to aid in closing, or speakers that have magnets in them.
I got downvoted to hell on /r/rolex during the whole "don't take your daytona off at the airport just to not scratch the clasp while working on your laptop" shenanigans by stating that you might want to take your watch off if you're working on a laptop to prevent potentially magnetizing it. |

Don’t cellphones now have magnets on the back? That wireless charging base?
