Would you do this trade?

Hi,

I have been offered a 2021 two-tone Explorer 1 (124273) for my 2005 16600 Sea Dweller. Would you do this trade?

TIA

It all depends on what you want; I don't think I'd do it but then again I've owned an SD and it didn't stick. I also like two tone watches and love the lume on the Explorer so I might. Basically I'd go with the one that appeals to you the most. Also it can be nice to have a modern watch. What condition is the SD in would be another question worth visiting.

It depends on your wrist size - they will wear so differently!

I would never do this trade. I don’t like TT and the 16600 is a mythical watch!

Completely different watches on the wrist. The new explorer wears pretty small. Did you get to try it on?

I would probably pass on this trade.

If sea dweller is full set I’d say no

Wouldn’t be for me. The explorer is a great watch, and I’m sure the TT version is nice, but 16660/16600/116600/126600 are probably tops in my personal stable!

The SD line tends to sit perfectly on my wrist, but I understand it isn’t for everyone.

I would not do this trade. The 16600 is a beast and versatile.

Nope. But if you’re looking for extra bling the TT will fit the bill

They destroyed the Explorer with the TT version imo. Sorry

So heck no. I have a 214270 and a 16600. There’s just something special about the 16600. Hopefully it never leaves me and I’d never swap it for an Explorer. Maybe a 216570/226570.

Maybe

I have the new ss explorer and absolutely love it! That being said, I wouldn’t go for that trade.

Thanks to everyone that commented, I think I'll turn down the trade and stick with the 16600

Entirely your choice based on your taste.
Personally, I prefer all SS and the SD>Exp.

Entry model with profitable configuration (a bit of gold and a large premium) VS a higher end, albeit older, model.

You’re basically trading your 2015 Audi S7 for an 2020 Audi S1.

I would not as I prefer your watch to the TT Explorer. If you want the TT Explorer why not just buy it and see if it sticks. If not, you will still have the SD and can move the TT.

Do you have any other watches in your collection?

I’d never want to be without a diver, YMMV

For my subjective tastes, I would prefer the SD based on my wrist and collection.

Depends what else is in your collection. If you have other black dial divers maybe it's something to consider.
