Omega Seamaster 600 PloProf 166.077

Good morning all,

Lately I have been reading up on the Omega Seamaster 600 PloProf 166.077. There are some nice and elaborate websites dedicated to this particular watch, such as http://www.ploprof.com and http://www.omegaploprof.com. So, consider this my tip for a nice Sunday read.

I am now currently playing with the idea of getting one myself. First of all because of the super tool design, but also because of the heritage. Perhaps, secretly, also a little in hope of getting somewhat of that Gianni Agnelli vibe going on.

However, I am yet to read any personal experiences with the watch. Does anybody have one is his/her collection? How does it wear? How do you wear it? Any experiences with servicing? From the few watches available in the market, I am considering to look further at early 70's editions. Any specifics that I should keep a look out for?

The forum's feedback is very much appreciated.

All the best,

Bill

The PloProf is THE legendary technical diver. It doesn’t get as much attention as it it should. Most of the Omega new blood runs right to the moon watch. Omega makes some of the best technical divers in the industry including the POC. Where Omega divers lead is they look and wear as good on their dive strap as they do on the bracelet. If/when you go PloProf, get the mesh bracelet first and then add the rubber strap.

I saw that one can easily get the Isofrane black rubber strap. Is the mesh so difficult to come by?

I really like the vintage 600 Ploprof but for me the steel 1200m Ploprof which has been discontinued for a few years now is a sleeping giant in terms of collectability, a stunning watch, incredibly well built.

Here’s a lume shot of it I found from the web.

The mesh is the classic PloProf look and buying the rubber strap later is much cheaper than trying to buy the bracelet.
