As I’m mostly interested in vintage, I will say springer. But another member, Morningtundra, wrote an informative and enjoyable Rolex book, ‘The Vintage Rolex Field Guide’ (later expanded into ‘The Vintage Rolex Field Manual’), and there are many other repositories here. I often glean things from Adam’s/Old Expat Beast’s posts, particularly as I also like his taste. Bas too, of course!

I think there are many and can't really put it down to one. I enjoy Old Expat Beast because his knowledge is targeted on the watches and styles I seem to like, that's not to say he isn't a Jack of all trades on most makes, I just really enjoy reading the Seiko sub forum, I will say though, there are many in that forum who are superb in their knowledge as well as OEB.

Although I wouldn't argue with the names being mentioned having a good bit of knowledge and having made great contributions to this forum. The thing is there are a good number of individuals who have made great contributions and knowledge to this forum.
Somebody please get a room ready for Paul. I'm sure a special outfit could be made as well.

There are way too many to chose one. The aggregate knowledge base on this forum is outstanding.

Interesting post, but a pointless question really, with no definitively correct answer.
The only fair way to resolve the question, is for there to be a fist-fight in the playground, during the afternoon break. |

All of the aforementioned have a wealth of knowledge and are a tremendous asset to TRF
One of the reasons I joined here was to learn more about these mechanical wonders we wear on our wrists …. The forum has changed a lot even since when I joined, but I still manage to glean bits of information that keep me interested in the hobby. |

Another vote for Jocke and Padi. i especially love Padi's common sense and no BS attitude.

Not sure we're all adult enough here to discuss banned members.
Apparently you're not permitted to have a lot of nice stuff and boast about it. It upsets some people (perhaps because they have less nice stuff). I always thought it was the American way....to freely advertise one's success. |

Fleetlord lost me as soon as he started ending all his posts with “to the moon” …insightful market intel nevertheless. 60% of the time he is always right.
Padi’s posts while highly technical come off bitter and grumpy. Almost like a disappointed grandpa. Uphill both ways kind of stuff. After reading his posts, I know, I will never be good enough to own a Rolex in the 70s. Tools has a very balanced and approachable style. He is also swift in pointing out hypocritical posts or illogical arguments. Careful what you post, this guy knows about all your past indiscretions, like the time you asked if it’s safe to loan your Rolex to your wife’s boyfriend. Been very impressed with GB-Man, walking that line beautifully. Never using “but” and always disagreeable. Keep up the good fight! SuperDog for everything not watch related and cynical. This guy saved me thousands when he predicted the market crash weeks ago. He is connected, so when he says he knows a guy, now you know a guy who knows a guy. This place is great, characters and all! |

Probably more to 'it' than just flexing, I just found it quite entertaining, the way he managed to get so many people to 'bite'. I was always slightly envious of those Leica's and BIG Nikon lenses though. Breguet watches and fancy pushbikes though?...Nope! |

On a real note to the thread: it’s hard for me to discern who is the most knowledgeable because there are so many knowledge folks here. I have learned a lot from the groups collective knowledge. It was nice having the interview with member segments. That seems like the dark ages but it was only a few years back when things were different. Would be cool to revive that and also a thread, similar to this, just acknowledging some of the fine folks here. Many great people here that deserve a recognition for not just watch knowledge but also for overall passion to the forums/topics. |
