Alex Pig - Hong Kong

Has anybody done business with a gentleman called Alex Pig.

He has a shop, Alex Pig Timepieces, in Hong Kong and is very active on Chrono24 and on Facebook etc.

Is he thrustworthy?

If I buy a watch from him, how safe is it to get it from Hong Kong to Europe?

Thanks!

Haven't heard of him myself but here's a couple threads:

http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=246609
http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?p=3759469

FYI I know the "search" function on here doesn't work very well with words under 5 letters, so sometimes you can try googling things while including the phrase "site:rolexforums.com" and get some better results.

Hi! Alex is a very trustworthy guy. I have done multiple deals with him and each at well over 20k. He is a man of his word and everything always goes exactly as he says.

As far as shipping from Hong Kong to EU, please advise with him as he should definitely know how to handle it and what you would be responsible for potentially.

I was in his shop the other day. Didn't buy anything but stock is good and he seems to offer slightly better vintage prices than other HK dealers. Would buy with confidence.

Alex Pig Hong Kong

I just completed a trade transaction with Alex. I moved from a 86 date just to a 50th Anniv. Submariner. It was a flawless transaction and I am very satisfied.
Alex walked me through the whole process. Everything was exactly as he said and even followed up after I got the Rolex.

Only just saw this thread. I went to Alex's shop in Quarry Bay in 2013 and purchased a 116610LV from him. Good guy to deal with. Apparently now he's specialising much more in vintage pieces. More power to him! Buy with confidence.

Hi all

Unsure if this will be of any use to anyone but I have just purchased from Alex and wanted to share my experience.

I purchased a 16700 as advertised from Alex.
Item: Rolex Oyster Perpetual GMT Master 16700 Stainless Steel Men's Watch with Pepsi Bezel
Brand: Rolex
Model: 16700
Movement: 3175
Date: Quickset Date
Series Number: U
Dial: Original Rolex dial
Bracelet: Original rolex solid oyster bracelet
Diameter: 40mm (excluding crown)
Box & Papers: With box and with paper
Authenticity: Whole watch is signed and 100% authentic (100% money back guarantee, no question!)
Working Condition: This watch has been checked by our watchmaker recently and guarantee keeping accurate time and normal wearing scratch.
Link is here: http://alexpig.com/products/1999-rol...-box-and-paper

Watch arrived as is with everything advertised.

As it was a bit of a big deal for me purchasing this watch I went and took it to my local vintage dealer who friends and I have used in the past to check it out.

His comments were that everything looked fine and as advertised except the bezel. The bezel was aftermarket. He suggested I take it to an RSC to get a Rolex bezel put in and have them check it out.

I did this and they confirmed the bezel was aftermarket for sure, sapphire they're unsure of and to look more into. Further to this the watch had no service history with Rolex and they insisted a service must take place for them to look over it and also put in an official bezel/possibly sapphire too. If you know anything about Australian RSC's you can only imagine the price quoted here.

During this whole process I was communicating with Alex who seemed quite shocked that the watch wasn't 100% genuine as advertised.

Once I had the quote back, I requested Alex reimburse me for what I believe is a fair portion of the costs (won’t discuss numbers in full) and although his profit took quite a hit he agreed to do so. Money transferred to me that day, clearing the next business day.

It is therefore now with Rolex being serviced.

Overall I'm ok with the experience. I would have preferred the whole thing was slightly smoother, but nothing seemed untoward and I'll be glad to have a serviced and entirely genuine Pepsi on my wrist very soon.

Alex is a decent guy with some good vintage in his repertoire. I have been to his shop on a few occasions, never bought anything from him but have heard nothing but good things.

I'm just about to buy a 16613 Sub from him and he assures me everything will be fine. Just scary buying from pictures from the other side of the world.

Any last minute suggestions?

Thanks

Have you considered the import tax/VAT?

Hello All,

I just registered to this forum because of this seller.

I am very interested also to buy a Rolex in his shop, i am living close so for me it is very convenient to go, but i am just worry about the authenticity of his watches because most of them are sold "without box and paper" and this is scares me especially after i find out that there is extremely well made fakes out there called "replica" or "clones" which are very very hard to spot. I don't talk about crap that you will buy at the corner of the street in New York of any market in China, i talk about timepieces which are made with some genuine parts (band, dial, crown, casing etc..).

I will not post links here, but using search engine will lead you easily on several forum where "artists" will show you what they are able to do and this is very very scary because when you are on the market for a 2nd hand luxury watch you really don't want to end up with such kind of fake.

I do not want to discredit this guy, he's probably honest but i just wonder especially after what happened to NathanOnly.

I too have been eyeing a couple of Alex Pig's watches. Would love to hear about anyone's recent experiences, especially when purchasing a brand new Rolex from him.

Just got my 214270 from Alex Pig and it was a great experience. Watch arrived in box, with papers, and just as promised. Also, and I'm not sure how it happened this way, but I didn't pay any import fees/taxes/whatever (I'm in the USA).

Sorry this has taken so long guys.

I received my Bluesey Sub from Alex within three days or purchase. He was always available to chat on whatsapp and assured me everything would be ok.

It arrived via FedEx and was exactly as described, near perfect condition and totally beautiful. I will be taking it to my local watchmaker for a service next year so will confirm or not whether it has fully original internals.

Overall Alex was fantastic to deal with and i would buy from him again.
