I sold everything over 40mm, at 6.8 inches it just does not work for me and I will never buy anything over 40 again. I am aware of lug width variations etc that can make a +40 watch seem OK but they still don't work for me. I have a DJ41 as my largest watch now which is 39.6mm with a lug to lug of 47mm.

My wrist is 7-7.25 and flat. I’ve had watches ranging up to 42 which looked fine. The 216570 I had looked fine size wise, I just grew to hate the dial and hands. I find 40 to be my favorite size too though. Right now however, I’m secretly pinning for a medium Santos de Cartier.

I also have a 6.75 wrist and find that, on me, 41 and larger just doesn't look good. I would have to see/fit a 40 in person to see if it rode well. 39 and below works well on me.

I have a flat 6.75" wrist. The 42mm Polar was my first Rolex and I couldn't be happier with the fit, feel and comfort.
This photo is not dead centre. The lugs span fractionally less than wrist edge to wrist edge. I suppose it ultimately depends on the opinion of the wearer. If you think it looks good, it's good. If you think it wears too big, it's too big. No one else's opinion matters. |

As others have said, different watches wear differently. I think sticking yourself with a 40mm cut off is being a little restrictive. Lug to lug has a big impact too. Basically, I would try on some bigger models when you get the chance and just see what looks and feels good.

at 7 3/4" wrist i feel like 42 is my sweet spot. but i like anything from 41-47, depending on the watch.
still have a few watches at 40mm, but sold a few and everything under. 40 is a great sweet spot. 36 is even better for the wallet. those mm = $$ |

6.3 - 6.5 inch wrist here.
To me, lug to lug is the deciding factor instead of stated diameter. I can go upto low 50s mm without any issues. Numbers pulled from Tim at Watchbox: Daytona: 46.6 mm Submariner: 48 Datejust 2: 49.5 SD43: 50.4 SkyD: 50.6 No issues with any of the above. AP 15400 or 42mm ROO are close on strap but with the bracelet, they flare out way too far. |

It's not a rut; I've got 6.5 inch diameter wrists. It's just what looks good on me. Just accept who you are. Easy peasy!!! Watches that don't fit me include 114060 Sub, Sky D, Omega Speedy, Breitling Super Ocean, Tag Heuer Monaco, even my early, Omega Bond seems big. For me the real sweet spot is the Daytona and five digit sports models. Frankly I don't really care to be like every one else and wear what everyone wears.

16570 is perfect for me. Larger and it seems like a “hey I want to notice my watch”

My wrist is also 6.75"
116520 and 16610 fits good. 216570 just seems a tiny bit big. . . . |

Try the 44mm Panerai Luminor. The short lugs rock while the large dial is crazy good imho.

I have smaller wrist (6.7), and I'm stock in 43mm!

I'm a bit hung up on the size of the modern ExII as well. Give the black dial a try. It definitely wears smaller than the white.

I have 7.25 wrists. I owned a 216570 polar during my big watch phase and it wears large which is further exacerbated by the white dial. Over the years my collection shrunk is size and diameter and the sweet spot is 40. That said I own a few 39s and 41s

Yes. And it's a place to be stuck in which I'm thoroughly happy.

I have a 6.75 oval wrist and I really cannot wear anything over 40mm comfortably. I’ve tried on the 42mm EXP II, but it simply doesn’t work. The lugs appear to overhang out of both sides of my wrist. So I found a 40mm EXP II instead.
This is the reason why I’ve never pursued the Skydweller. I just don’t think it’ll be a comfortable watch to wear for me. I think I have to limit my watches to no more than 49mm lug to lug space. I’m hoping that the supposed “new” Submariner is the sweet spot. |

Wear what you like. You’re missing so much by not trying 42mm

I have a similar size wrist. Perhaps a few mm smaller.
If possible it's worth trying all three things on to see. But for me those 42+ Rolex watches look a bit clown like on my smaller wrists. Tudor Pelagos fit better. Even a Hublot 45mm. |

My wrist is the same at 6.75inch and flat. I often wear a 42mm speedie which looks great and I have a 41.5mm Omega Aqua Terra which also fits perfectly.
The Ex II is fairly slim so I think you'd be fine - the issue would likely be the overhang of the solid end links. This is one area I struggle with Rolex. The 6 digit Subs do overhang a touch and feel significantly bigger on me that the 5 digit. Truth be told the 5 digits are a better size for me but I'm loathed to spend the same amount of money on a 5 digit than a 6 digit. |

Nope. Same size wrist as you and my Deepsea is my most loved watch.
Have had many 47mm PAMs and 44mm APs. I think you'd be fine with the size of the 216570. |

My wrist size/shape is almost identical to yours and the 216570 is one of the best fitting, best looking watches I own. Give it a try.
