Suggest A Breitling For Me
So, I'm thinking about adding a Breitling to my collection, but really know almost nothing about them.
My general watch preferences are: Bracelet over strap Not huge (usually nothing >40mm, but would go up to 42mm) Could really use a blue or green dial. Also brown. I don't want to spend a lot of money - I'd probably want to buy resale or through a gray market source. What would be some good options for a first Breitling? |

Transocean,Chrono. Or new panda premier line with b01 in house movement. I have 3 breitlings and all have been solid for years.

Thanks for all the feedback, everyone. After looking at several of their watches, I think the one that speaks to me the most is this one:
Galactic Unitime World Time I'm a big fan of the Worldtime complication - I just wish there were dial colors other than black and white available. |

Are you looking at Jomashop exclusively? They aren’t an authorized dealer. They only carry older models that dealers are moving on. Basically, they are greymarket. Not saying not to buy from Jomashop as I bought 1 watch from them too. Just be aware no Breitling warranty from Jomashop. Go to a dealer and try some on. You’re in San Diego so tons of dealers in your area. Breitling has so many models and configurations it’s mind boggling compared to Rolex.
Also that watch in your link is a 44mm. You said nothing bigger than a 42mm

I've purchased a couple of watches from Joma and have had good experiences - same with Amazon direct. Thanks for pointing out the 44mm. That is a bit larger than I prefer, but, you're right - worthwhile to go try some on. Thanks! |

I tried the Navitimer 8 Automatic Day Date recently in blue and really liked it. ETA modified movement for inexpensive maintenance. 41mm. Comfy. Not super expensive new.

I am sticking with the Premier collection only for now, Bentley Green on its way soon with croc green strap. I would recommend anything from the Premier line.

Love my transocean chrono. It's 43mm, though, so barely larger than what you wanted, but it has the in house b01 movement and those looks...

Premier panda should be high on the list. I was new to the brand about a week ago and pulled the trigger on the bentley green premier. Love the watch soo much i'm thinking of adding the panda dial version to the collection. The way Rolex is going with its supply strategy other watch brands are on the attack.

Navitimer is the iconic Breitling watch. They wear smaller than their size, so try one on before ruling it out. And note, a Navitimer is supposed to wear a bit larger (part of its history since you need to read the dial as a pilot).

The superocean heritage in natural sunlight looks amazing. Here’s a pic of mine from yesterday.

Pick out a Navitimer. Recommend you try it on before purchasing. I had a 48mm and found it to be too large for my taste, comfort and fit for shirt sleeves.

What else is in your collection ? Depending on that, you may be disappointed by Breitling. I’ve had two and sold them both.

My collection is pretty basic: Rolex - YG Day-Date, WG Day-Date, Datejust, Explorer II Omega - Constellation Double Eagle, DeVille Hour Vision Annual Calendar Cartier - Pasha & Tank Dubey & Schaldebrand - Gran' Chrono Astro JLC - Master Compressor, Master Control Date Breguet - Marine Tag - Monaco (blue) Tudor - DoubleDate The Breitling will get some wrist time, but not a lot. It's not a bad watch though. |

I wouldn’t call your collection “basic”- it’s very nice !! Didn’t mean to say anything bad about breitling. Congrats on the Colt- enjoy ! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Thanks, JR! When I say basic, it runs kind of a consistent pattern - I prefer smaller (36mm - 42mm) dress-type watches. It's the opposite of what most people like today. Makes it easy for me to not compete with those looking for big, sporty watches.
