Icon5 Sky Dweller or BUST?

Hi, I'm hoping this is one of those things that you guys really have fun with.. I am curious about your opinions and whatever else you can tell me about this watch I just acquired.

I'm not normally a terribly gullible person, but here is my story..

I was leaving the shopping mall today when I was called at by a family in a minivan. I live in Vancouver, Canada. The family introduced themselves as citizens of Dubai and while speaking decent English had believable heavy accents. They explained their problem as not having enough Canadian currency and appeared quite distraught and panicked. While it would seem odd that someone would find themselves in that situation it's not completely impossible.. the couple were wearing many pieces of gold jewelry which gained them more credibility in my mind and even the ladies front teeth were gold.. they were well spoken and polite and genuinely appeared troubled. The lady produced a few gold items it seemed like they would part with for some cash. I refused initially and then gentleman pulled one of the rings off his finger in hopes to change my mind.. again he appeared distraught than pushy.. so I decided to help them and gave them a little cash for the necklace.. I put the ring back in his hand as it seemed like it had more value to him than I would need if the necklace was real. He was shocked and thanked me, both the man and woman were becoming emotional at that point and I felt that warm human feeling. He then told me his father was a jeweler in Dubai, but abandon his family for a younger wife. Next he said he was so appreciative that someone helped them and respected my refusal to take his ring in the deal that he was going to do something special for me.. he took the watch off his wrist and offered it to me for a fraction of what he said it was worth. He said not to sell it, he wanted me to keep it and remember him and the help I gave them this day. The price I paid wasn't more than I was comfortable taking the chance on, so I went for it. Sometimes you win.

My thoughts: it's a really nice watch either way. I was expecting some stamping on the backplate, but I don't know how old the model is or if any custom or repair work has been done. The backplate is slightly different colour than the watch body, but is a satin finish and does match the clasp color and other satin finish parts of the watch.

I took it to the watch rep at the mall and he said he wasn't sure.. the only thing he noted were the use of pins in the wrist strap.

Now I'd like your expert knowledge! What do you think of it?

Would opening the backplate reveal any more details to help?

(My picture links aren't working..)

I would be surprised if the necklace and watch are real.
What you describe is a typical scam which you encounter a lot along Europe's highways.

Sounds like a scam. They could easily go to a pawn shop.

I know what the result will be but have you tried taking a file to an unobtrusive area of the necklace to find copper or base metal under the goldplate yet?

Your pics don’t work, but assuming it’s a pic of a Sky Dweller (as per your title), the Sky Dweller was only launched in 2012. So i’d be surprised if it had any work done (?)

You are either making this story up for attention, or a complete gullible idiot with no common sense.

Which is it?

What a wonderful caring person. The entire Gypsy nation loves you.

Sadly, the entire TRF now knows your judgement and gullibility are that of a 2 yr old. You're lucky you weren't kidnapped, murdered and stripped of anything of value. The fact that you actually posted this fairytale suggests you are clueless of the realities of the World. Please be very careful in the future, and never approach a unknown Van with it's doors open. Even if the occupants want to show you a shiny object.

C’mon guys, he bought a SkyD without playing AD games and at a fraction of the retail price. He deserves to be applauded.

Sky Dweller or BUST?

You’re not allowed to post fakes

The proportions are totally off

And there’s no serial number

And.... DOES IT SAY SKY DIVELLER ????

This post is a hoax
