5170j

Still cannot understand why hasn't 5170J become as desirable as many sports watches. People say, too many were produced, but certainly fewer were produced compared with 5711 or 5167....

You are trying to make sense of how the masses perceive a watch vs a WIS.
Patek DNA is on strap watches , but try to sell any 5170 and probably 2 people will reply (total) , now try to sell a Nautilus and you probably have like a 4 per day. It’s just simple offer and demand. So yeah that applies to all dress patek watches.
In order for a non sport patek Phillipe reach that level of demand, a lot of circumstances have to coincide for the watch to reach that status

There are greater and rhetorical (obvious) “why” questions in the world that hasn’t been solved yet. It is what it is. Any sport watch as a whole is more popular than the 5170J. Sports is in fashion for anything.

Also within models, the 5170G (which is a better looking watch) cannibalizes it’s brother.

If it’s your watch. Enjoy it and who cares. If you want one, perfect... not a lot of competition. You want to buy a popular watch for sake of popularity buy a Rolex or the usual 57XX/516X. Nothing wrong with that.

Sometimes I lose brain cells reading posts. This may be one of them ... Why????

save your brain cells:)

this was meant to share a pretty (in my view) photo of my watch posted along with a rhetorical question. Didn't expect anyone to answer it (it belongs to the existential questions category), neither looking for advise. Just want others to enjoy and admire its beauty, which this forum is about. Cheers.
