Wonder if Seiko will make that waffle strap available on its own? That’d have Uncle Seiko sweating.

It's probably available. As an owner of two Seikos with said strap, I would expect to have access to a replacement

Having said that... do you think it's going to sell for $39... ? I bet it's $139. So no, Uncleseiko won't lose any sleep over it...

Great watch, but I won’t pay 4K for it. I might just get a SRP777 and mod it to look like a Willard.

Then again, funny things happen when I try a watch on. I just may buy it. We’ll see...

I’m nervous about not getting one. My AD says that seiko is going to spread the wealth to lots of AD’s where each gets very few of them. He’s says I’m like 3 or 4 on the list...but I have no idea what that means any more. He’s trying to get 30 of them.

30?!? I'm not even sure a Seiko Boutique can manage 30...
My ADs will both get 1~3 at best.

The SLA Seiko market will have a few flippers trying to sell at a premium right away but after they’ve been out for about 8 months you’ll be able to buy one that’s barely used for $3500 or less. Eventually they’ll pick up again in value once the long term owners lock them away and reduce the number available. Either way they’ll be available everywhere for the next year or so.

Does anyone know how the crown works if it's how the original was or not

Seeing the side by side pics, I actually think the proportions are off on the reissue. Hour indices are too small, too much empty space on the dial.

I read the crown is screw down now, NOT the original design.

Yes that is confirmed. It is full screw down modern design, not the original turn and lock.

Correct, but it is made to look like the original.

Yes I did! More photos tomorrow, I promise!

Just wanted to do an early comparison shot with the other two recreations, which you also have shared lovely photos of yours.

The bezel action is smoother than the SLA017 & SLA025, just so you know...

Also, that one pictured isn’t mine... mine is aligned, ha ha ha!

Very very shiny!

Also, same buckle as the SLA033, it seems. I think R02B021J9 Strap with R02B021J9 Strap with C190FS Spring Bars.
