Pardon my ignorance but why does the sub-seconds hand tick like quartz?

It also looks misaligned as it does not fall exactly on the line. I think for the price, things like this should have been perfectly executed?

It has a jumping second complication, which explains why it ticks like a quartz.

I don't think it is misaligned but due to camera angle.

I'm a little late to seeing this one- but wow this watch is amazing.

The patek I have been lusting over recently is the 5170G with the black dial. The leaf hands, breguet numerals, and white typewriter font on a black dial for high contrast with two subregisters is about as perfect as it gets for me with what I love about "dressier" Pateks. Open caseback to boot. I was thinking that the only way they could make that watch better is if they made the hands and numerals lumed. Now I'm praying they release a new version of the 5170 that has those lumed hands and numerals...

Reference 5172G is the successor which carries a more sporty aesthetic with lined hands.

You're overstating the concern a bit, minute repeaters are just fine out in the world. Yes, you should be cautious (avoid walking in downpours, careful hand washing, give swimming pools a wide berth), but they are most definitely supposed to be worn and enjoyed. Also, that's what the service department is for if the worst were to happen.
