I prefer the new model. I was never a fan of the maxi case. Too boxy looking.

I prefer the 40mm dial size for Subs and GMTs, it is only 1mm but it makes a difference to my eye, just makes the dial a bit wider, more bulbous. I prefer it tight.

I am a big fan of the more graceful, decreased lug proportions on the 12 series case. I wore a 116610 and 114060 for years and while these are beautiful watches, the boxy square vibe of the lugs was always in my head LOL.

I have the 126610 and it feels like the perfect modern Rolex Sub to me.

Try them on. There are trade-offs for both models.

Both are great… my 114060 is my daily driver, and been contemplating getting a 12 series.

I own both … I was never a fan of the “squared off” look of the 11 Series … inside by side / HD photos it obvious … but, on the wrist, there’s really not much difference.

If I were at the AD, and they had both, new … I would buy the 12 Series.

Sound advice.
On wrist will give you the answers you seek.

I much prefer the older 40mm 114060 model, like the maxi case slightly more sporty/athletic looking casework , at the end of the day however is all about personal preferences

I have worn both. Can not tell a difference except for large clasp on the 41mm. Even to this day, I have a difficult time determining if a Sub is a 40mm or 41mm. My quickest way is looking for the small crown at 6 o'clock position. Otherwise, I honestly don't have a preference. No one else in the real world will know (or care) either. I'd say get whichever suits you. There is no wrong answer.

can't agree with you more. MOST people can't tell the difference and it's really personal preference. i personally like the 40mm more.

I was ALWAYS a fan of larger lugs and would not buy 12 over 11, but that’s because of obvious 😬 movement design fault. Same applies for 11 over 12 GMT (or any 11 vs 12).

There was a point when I could have flipped my 11, make a nice profit, and then buy a 12 for MSRP at an AD. But I never felt compelled to do so.

If you’re at a party with a bunch of watch enthusiasts, nobody would know the difference. You have to get a good close up to tell the difference.
