Tiling a Fireplace?

I was wondering if Mastic is used to adhere glass tile to the fireplace facing? Any and all suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks!

Well, What is the difference between mortar and mastic for the fireplace facing? Is it the same product? Is one specific to the surface? Doesn't matter? Thanks

In fireplaces the material you want around the throat and flue wants to be a mixture of perlite and vermiculite.

Mastic for tiles? I wouldn't, you want a non combustible and heat retardent grout. If your fireplace gets to hot, your mastic or other mortars may heat and become elastic, not good.
