DJ II or DJ41?

AD has a DJII light silver dial,SS Oyster for $6200.00 or a DJ(41) Slate dial, SS Oyster for $7200.00

both out the door price but not sure which is a better buy? Any thoughts or experience with either piece as they both seem a nice watch.

Thanks

To me, the differences in the two are beyond subtle.
I much prefer the overall aesthetics of the 41.
I think Rolex realized the proportions on the DJII were off and corrected it nicely with the 41.
Price won’t matter if not happy.

I've had two DJII's in the past, never was able to get the right fit for me. I picked up a 41 about a month ago and it's been great for me. Good luck

Although you can’t beat the 36mm IMO.

same. I personally far prefer the DJ41.

I tried the 2 a few times. I could never feel the love. But with the 41, it is nothing but love.

I think it comes down to what your personal tastes are. I have the DJ2 along with some other larger watches, Panerai, 6 digit subs etc., and I feel that the DJ2 has nice, unique, youthful proportions. The DJ41, on the other hand, wears closer to how the 36mm DJ does, especially in terms of the bezel and case feel.

the better buy is the watch you prefer. Price difference should never be the deciding factor ideally.

DJ 41, IMO better proportions. Case is slightly slimmer and the new movement is great. 70hr PR is really nice if you switch to a WE watch.

II if you like a bigger watch / 41 if you like a smaller watch

I love the II and don’t care for the 41

I prefer the thicker sticks and case of the DJ 11. The DJ41 just didn't have enough heft to it. It's all subjective. Just go with what you like most.

Had a DJ2 blue stick and flipped it. Probably should have kept it or went with a 41 with a WG bezel and jubilee.

i like the DJ2 so much i bought three!

A more youthful and modern take on the Datejust for sure when sporting the baton dial.

The 41 which replaced it has the same aesthetic as the 36, its just upscaled to 39mm (and not 41mm as the branding would have you believe).

The DJ2 was never out of proportion to anything. It was a new take on the 36 at the time, but it seems Rolex went back to tradition and conjured up the 41 which has kept the purists happy.

Both are beautiful watches and you won't go wrong with either. Buy which you prefer most.

I have the following two DJ2's. One is a black-dial, the other is a blue-dial. One features a fluted bezel, the other has a smooth bezel. Both came with Oyster bracelets. I love both watches, and I couldn't be happier with the DJ2 'size-platform'. The proportions are a perfect fit for me (7.5" wrist), and both watches just feel 'right' as far as overall wrist placement and comfort are concerned. I also like the maxi-size hour markers. I am 100% happy with both watches, and I have absolutely 'zero' regrets. Regards, -Rick.

Get a DJ41 with Jubillee bracelet and fluted bezel. Awesome watch.
