Omega Speedmaster Professional Hesalite

Hey gang...

Around the $4k to $5K range how would you rank
this one...

Omega Speedmaster Professional hand wind movement.
311.30.42.30.01.005 reference with Hesalite Crystal I believe...

It's peeking my curiosity...

Better than Tag Autavia and other Speedy's in that
range ? I like the black dial and leather strap option
as well... Thanks

Can't go wrong with a Speedmaster.

FYI, there is a Omega Discussion subforum here at TRF.

In that range, Speedy is one of the best! But, you can also make strong cases for various Grand Seiko, Panerai and other models. Depends on what you are looking for.

Aaah, well, in that case, and assuming you want new, Speedy without hesitation for me. I also quite like the watch on the strap.

If you are watch aficionado, you can’t go to your grave without owning a speedmaster, any speedmaster

I really really really want to love a Speedmaster but....

After many years of admiration from afar - mainly pictures of forum members posting in WRUW type threads both here on TRF and other watch forums I finally tried one on recently at a local Omega dealer.

Imagine my disappointment when I looked down at my wrist and just thought "Next..."

I was genuinely gutted.

It really didn't do anything for me at all and I was completely underwhelmed.

Maybe I didn't give it enough time and maybe if I actually owned one & wore it for a while I may learn to love it but honestly I just felt nothing.

Sorry...

Speedy is hard to beat in that price range. Looks great on all straps and the hesalite gives it a nice “warm” look and feel. Highly recommend getting one!

Can't be beat. Had one, sold it, and regret it since. It can be had sub $4000 easily in the classifieds.

The most versatile watch I own. Probably the last I would sell.

This. It also goes with a wide range of strap options. I think it is the best value "real" watch out there. I'd never sell mine.

Is this the Autavia you refer to? I have been curious about it since I noticed one on Christian Horner's wrist this season (Team Principal for Red Bull Racing's F1 team).

It sounds impressive on paper: column wheel, vertical clutch, long power reserve, domed & double-A/R sapphire. I swiped this photo...

As for the Omega Speedmaster Professional, I highly recommend it. Like the Autavia, it's an icon of motorsport watches. It has that elusive blend of purposefulness and elegance that only a few watches get really right. It's tough, durable, and reliable. There is an intriguing blend of materials, shapes, and finishes. Legibility is unsurpassed in its class.

It does work really well on a strap. I enjoy mine on the alligator strap and deployant clasp that come as standard.

Yeah, I saw a white inverted panda dial of the Autavia.... Sharp
Man, that speedy on leather is a looker....

Not only hard to beat but gets way more wrist time than my Daytona and is far more ledgible as well.

Bought mine some weeks ago. Haven't hardly worn any of my Rolex since.

I always thought the Speedy looked soooooo boring in photos - but after trying it on my own wrist; oh man.

Wristshot of the new strap on the 005 Speedy. The Moonwatch is a strap monster. :)

For sure. The warm, toasty tan looks great.

Here are a couple I have enjoyed...

This is an Omega brand twin-pad in genuine alligator that came as standard issue on the Speedmaster Pro about fifteen years ago. Omega ran out of them long ago, but I dig it, so I snapped up a well-preserved specimen and I enjoy using it on occasion.

I used to have a khaki fabric strap that was dynamite for my Speedmaster, but I must have sent it away in some trade because it's not around any longer. Anyhow, I still keep this photo around because it reminds me how I used to enjoy terrorizing this particular country lane in my 911

Speedy on the mesh bracelet looks pretty sweet. I recently picked up the speedy UM and it is getting tons of wrist time. Now I’m thinking I need another speedy!
