Yachtmaster mod...
So I love the blue sunburst dial on the Blusey Sub but I just can't do yellow gold two tone. The Smurf is glorious but the matte blue dial is not as special as the sunburst to me and I just can't justify the money for gold. That gets to the blue sunburst Yachty.
Love the dial, even the red "yachtmaster" but the red seconds hand and platinum bezel have always turned me off. However I recently found out the YM bezel design is the same as the 5 digit sub and can be exchanged as easily. Soooo, I'm thinking of creating this... ImageUploadedByTapatalk1450472976.680455.jpg I can source a steel sub bezel and genuine blue insert easy enough, then just have ABC watchwerks swap out the red second hand and satin finish the lugs. I know there are many here who think any mods are sacrilidge, and I appreciate that prespective, but this is more about having the watch I really wish Rolex made (a blue hulk). What do you guys think? |

Do it if you want to and like it. It does look good but personally i don't like messing with factory setting watches.

Not a permanent mod, and original parts will be retained so I don't see any value hit other than the extra parts and labor, which I'm fine with. I'll probably just try the bezel first since that's DIY.

Do what ya like......that's what matters. I wouldn't even ask for opinions here because some jackwagon is gonna come along and try to be funny or rude and you will end up second guessing yourself. I say F em and do what makes you happy.

Also, I am sure you know this already but the Yachtmaster case is entirely different, specifically the bottom side of the lugs. They are very sculpted or tailored, not sure what the right word to use is. It actually fits the wrist better than sub or gmt cases in my opinion.

I usually have a negative opinion about mods but I would TOTALLY do that if i could! Looks great, but I would leave the second hand alone and just go with the bezel.

Love it. Don't mess with the seconds hand. It matches the red writing on the dial

It looks great but I agree with the others who mentioned keeping the red second hand.

Looks great and I guess this is the look you're going for except for the dial....
...and the cost. |

This looks awesome I would get the red hand though. So you confirmed the bezel would work?

It's not for me but everything you're thinking of doing is easily reverted back to original. Follow your bliss.

Do it and post pics afterward.
I would retain the red hand and do the triple red with red date wheel. |

I hope the two shades of blue complement each other because if they don't, it could look off. The mock up looks great tho.

OP, I agree with you: I like the red hand on the YM, but the white hand looks better in your mod.

Looks awesome, if the YM would come like this i might get one (think the red hand will finish it).
About the shades. Take a closer look at the green sub or the bluesy sub. Those shades are off too. Both watches are loved by many people.

Which blue insert were you shooting to get? As far as the plan, I do believe the broader visual expanse of a blue bezel and blue dial makes the whole watch appear larger.
The Pt. bezel on the blue dialed YM makes it look smaller compared to the old original Pt. dial/bezel combo. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
