Would you buy this Sub if it was at Basel 2019

Not something worth doing methinks.

But if Rolex were to contemplate “Masterpiecing” a Sub Date, then they ought to set the world abuzz.

Maybe...

Or, go to “the end of time” - a really different path a’la Bram Ramon...

No. This colour scheme is best left to Omega.

it totally has an Omega feel. But nothing on this planet brings out the status buyers like a Rolex. What Basel SS release hasn't had a long wait list in recent memory? I'm not saying any posters have misrepresented their feelings about this, but I am pretty sure it would sell simply because it is a Rolex, and the newest thing

Beautiful. And IMHO most of the people here reveal good amount of hypocracy. I am sure if this is an iteration made by Rolex queue will extend itself longer than the one for BLRO!

Maybe, but one of the reasons Rolex is "Rolex" is because they are smart about their designs, and typically don't do crap like this. That isn't to say they never make a misstep*, but they're careful, and also (usually) conservative. This design is so not Rolex that if they were to do too many releases like this, it could change the way people view the brand, which could ultimately decrease the brand's standing. The minute a brand thinks it's too big to fail is when it fails. Luckily, I think Rolex is smart enough to recognize this, and will leave designs like this to the aftermarket blasphemers.

*The Air-King is an arguable example of questionable judgment, but it's not representative of the mainstream Rolex canon. It's also its own design, and not a variation on a catalog staple (e.g., a Submariner), so it doesn't mess with the iconic designs Rolex is known for.

I like it ! If rolex didn't release an all green sub, and it was released as an one off custom sub I bet you the watch community would be hating it just like this release.

Don't kid yourselfs if Rolex released that watch people would rushing to ADs to be put on a list and it would soon be changing hands for a hefty premium.

Not a fan ... but if it came out of the Rolex factory as a new model .... I'll bet the waiting list would be 3-5yrs and people would be jumping up and down about not being able to get it hahahaha.

Looks like a Yobokies modded Seiko, if Yobokie had a really heavy night out beforehand...

For the record, I only posted the question b/c I already knew that there would be 3 pages of "NO!" guaranteed but the question of "Basel 2019" adds a different dynamic....

On TRF:
1. Mods=Ebola
2. Subs rule except w/ a tux
3. Basel bends WIS reality annually, those you may not normally like get a pass. (example: an orange lightning bolt hand)

How many Sub owners actually dive? 30%?
How many Milgauss owners actually need anti-magnetic? 15%?
How many modded Subs owners dive? 0%

$0.02
