How Much $ Does It Take?
Was wondering how much money it takes to improve your chances of getting a SS Daytona or Pepsi at an AD. I (we) have spent over 6 figures at a local AD and jeweler in the past 6 months. But still no watch. I would have thought spending that amount would have done the trick, but does not appear to have done so. ...and it is at a big Western U.S. jeweler with many locations in HI, WA, AZ, CA, etc.

Grey?
Instead of spending over 100k on watches that you may or may not want, why not just spend 20k on the Daytona at a grey dealer?
And I don't believe there is a set amount you need to spend to be considered a big fish in thier eyes. First they sell to greys, friends, family, keep for the owner or sell out the back door. Then the high rollers. Then in 8 years us little guys may get one. |

Sounds like grey would’ve been the ‘better’ choice.

If you spend that much money, why not Daytona 116519LN?

There's no set dollar answer to your question - it's a range from zero to six figures plus depending on the AD. Have they even given you any wait time estimate? Must be lots of huge fish doing business at that AD. And with the ridiculously small number of Pepsi and Daytona watches most ADs are getting, not hard for even big spenders to find themselves outside looking in at large ADs. Maybe try throwing some of your next business to a smaller AD where your business will mean more to them.

Just come right out and say Baron and Leeds
I feel like spending that amount would have served you better had you chosen a smaller AD. |

I’ve played that game with AD’s in the past, they are really trying to attract new clients at least mine is, so it’s cheaper to just buy it from a grey dealer long term, if you really want to keep that watch. You will end up spending thousands of dollars on watches that you may or may not want in the long run, if you want them that’s fine but if you are just buying in the hopes that they call you on the allocated pieces save yourself some time and money and buy from a trusted seller here.

Seems like you bet on the wrong horse or AD for that matter.

I feel the same way. I’ve purchased 5 or 6 watches from mayors in a the past 2 years and still no call. They can make an additional 5k per watch flipping them
to others, but they’d probably make more money keeping a client for life. Oh well.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

I doubt the OP spent 100k on watches he didn’t want, so why the clown answers. OP sounds like your AD has a ton of big fish or they don’t value you. Or you haven’t made it clear that you want one now. I’d politely remind them that you’ve been a loyal customer but your tired of waiting, see what they say. If they give you a BS answers just don’t buy anything else from then until you get the call

1- the city where the dealer is at 2- the dealer and how honest they are 3- how much money you spent (which is always a moving threshold for ADs) 4- you and how much they like you! I got an SD43 and a BLNR from two ADs with whom I had no relationship whatsoever at the time And the one I bought 5 watches from didn’t deliver them! Then another AD delivered SS SkyD, Daytona and Pepsi! The rule is the lack of one!!

I think it depends on the AD, spending big at some ADs would get you nowhere. For $100K, I'd just buy from grey and save some $$$. Never too late to do it again.

He may not want to buy from a grey, and I think that is fair. You spend that much, there is something to be said for buying from an actual dealer where you know everything is what it is supposed to be. I think it is nuts that people who are willing to pay full price for a luxury item are not able to buy it.

You been waiting a few days now to unleash that pent up frustration huh? Good for you "bruh". But with a wife as hot as the one you posted you'd think you'd have a solid release, maybe she just isn't that into hairy arms? Glad you got it out thou

Just remind your AD you have already spent 6 figures in 6 months at his shop. If you still do not receive the Daytona/Pepsi from him, you will bring your next 6 figures elsewhere. This should do the trick, otherwise, buy from TS or build relationship with another AD. Be upfront with your new AD about the dollar spending to get that watch you want.

I really think the key to getting a daytona in these situations is to dangle the spending on the other watches up front into bundling for the daytona. Otherwise they have small incentive to offer it to you down the road when they might have someone else to use it as a bargaining chip with. 100k is a ton of money to us, but in reality to some AD's in affluent areas and worse so because your on an island, its an average customer.

There's just a reality of the availability of these watches. You may be your AD's favorite customer, but they can't make a Daytona simply appear.
