Seiko SARX017
I have probably owned 5 of these, and for one reason or another, they haven't lasted here. But I always regret parting with it, and now they are no longer in production. This one popped up recently so I bought it, was happy to find it was clean and running very nicely. One of the keys to liking this one more than the others, silly as it may sound, is the band. I had a really nice Hirsch band here in the drawer, and it seems to just add something to it.
Funny, but with all the Rolexs I have owned, this watch is the only one, along with a Grand Seiko, to ever generate a comment from someone. Some nice sunlight was shining in my window the other day and I thought it a good opportunity to snap a picture of it. I really like the dimensions of this watch. It is 39mm and not too thick, and reportedly 11mm thick. I don't like the larger size watches that have become popular these days, I guess being a senior I'm more accustomed to the smaller sizes I grew up with. They made a few versions of this, varying slightly and some came with a bracelet that I found heavy, bulky and just unappealing. These were available for about $500 when they came out. Finding them now is a little tricky. I have always liked em, and this time it is getting some extensive wrist time. |
