Trading a Subdate+cash for Speedy 321Ed white

Am I crazy to do so?

The value of this trade was the equivalent of me buying the 321 at listed price without the wait.

The sub was the last Rolex in my collection which had mostly been in the watchbox in the last 6 months.

I now have 321, Ultraman, and a reduced Speedy.

If you don’t wear the Submariner why not? The 321 is a beauty

EDIT: was this a rhetorical question?

It sounds like a fair deal for a cool watch. I would do it.

Sounds right to me as long as you're happy with it. Life's too short, do what brings you the most joy.

Congrats in the meantime - I love my 321 and I had to wait 15mths for it...
Out of curiosity, which ref. was your Submariner?

It's 40mm plain old black ceramic. Your great review is partially to blame. I'll be picking it up today and show the pic later. :-)

i think thats a good deal and for me id rather have the 321

if you have good connections that sub wont be too hard to replace at retail, and if you had to have one today you could, albeit at a premium cost

i say you try and replace the sub date with the green bezel reference. i saw some photos in a thread in the rolex subforum, from a gentlemen who has recently traveled the world with his new green bezel sub and it looks fantastic. i liked it when it was released but didnt think i would have chosen it over a black bezel, but now i think id choose the green if costs were the same.

Thanks guys for your thoughts. Here it is.

It's awesome especially the cal. 321 which looks much better than the pic.

Congratulations! The pictures of this watch don’t do it justice. Once you see it in person, you “get it”.

Congratulations. I would have said keep the Sub and buy the 321 outright but guess you already traded it.

Awesome - I have the 321 and love it. It’s a fantastic watch and good to see it getting some love on the forums.

Much like the above, if you could have swung keeping the sub too, that would have been a cracking pair! Enjoy the 321 and don’t be afraid to try on straps. It looks brilliant on them too.

Congratulations! I think the 321 is much more special than a Submariner, even though I like them both. You could possibly pick a Submariner up at a later date or even go for a Seamaster or a Tudor Black Bay, both of which are readily available.

I’m a big Sub fan, but I think you made a good move. The 321 is just more special than a Sub, and a Sub is easier to get if you want to add it back later.

Congrats on the Ed White!
