Incoming - first Patek

Been chasing this for a while. A few observations:
  • While the dial appears opaline white in press photos, it is actually a nice matte silver
  • The dial is surprisingly readable considering all the information on it
  • The case is simple but very well executed, the stepped lugs elevate it from basic to interesting
  • The fit is perfect on my 6.5 inch wrist - somehow much better than the 6119G which is thinner and supposedly shorter from lug-to-lug. Wondering if the curved lugs of the 5212A make the difference here
Looking forward to enjoying the dial and movement with a loupe
Also looking for alternate strap recommendations, please post any interesting strap combos you've seen!

Bit of a story here - I was on the waiting list at the local Rolex/Patek AD since it released. I was told I was getting close to the top of the list and then the AD lost their Patek status The next nearest AD (with whom I have no history) basically implied a jewelry purchase would be necessary. Considering the recent secondary market downturn, I just went grey and picked this up for (IMO) a very reasonable price

Many congratulations, a great piece.

I think the 5172G strap looks great with the style and colour of the watch.

Thanks Russell for your input here and on WPS! Agree-that blue suede looks great. Wish they had kept the suede strap for the salmon 5172 too

Interesting, are you using the Hermes clasp with them? And are they compatible with the Patek spring bars?

Thank you! Thoroughly enjoying it... do most others keep theirs on a winder? My only other calendar complication is a sky dweller which is about 2-3x faster to set lol
