Cheapest place to buy Lange/Patek (USA/Aust/Hong Kong/Europe)

Hi all

Just wondering what would be the cheapest place to buy a brand new A.Lange or Patek. I am doing a round the world trip next year so will be visiting a few places in Europe, LA and NYC. Will visit Hong Kong or Singapore if I have to as well

Prices in Australia are pretty high, but so is the Australian Dollar so it might be worthwhile purchasing overseas. Currently:

1 AUD = 0.7558 Euro
1 AUD = 0.9957 USD
1 AUD = 7.742 HKD
1 AUD = 0.6403 GBP

Unfortunately I do not have access to Lange and Patek prices overseas, but given that the list price of a Patek 5196R in Australia is about AUD $23,500, and in Hawaii, it is USD $19,400 + 4.7% tax in Hawaii (about a total of AUD $20,400) so there is already a significant saving there.

Other countries may also offer a bigger (maybe smaller) dealer discount but may also include tax, so please let me know what these might possibly be so I can take it into account

Thanks all!

You'll probably struggle a bit if you're looking for a new one. There's the usual suspects like swissluxury.com and prestigetime.com for Patek but checkthey actually have it in stock first.

Otherwise you're left with the used market and sellers such as blowers-jewellers.co.uk and europeanwatch.com.

To be honest in this market you will probably be best off buying from a dealer over in Europe or US. If you can hammer out a deal on the telephone, put down a deposit and fly over you still might save money.

I don't know the MSRP here in Norway, but considering we have a 25% sales tax you as a foreigner can deduct you might consider a trip here when in Europe?:) In EU countries you will also be able to deduct salestax, wich you may not in US for instance. We do unfortunately dont have a Lange AD in Norway...
