I won’t say who won but it was a very exciting stage, like a demolition derby.

Avid fan here. I was out in the Pyrenees two weeks ago cycling some of the climbs from this year's Tour. Two weeks to the day I was having a beer at the top of the Tourmalet.

Yeah, sorry that Richie Porte crashed out yet again. That poor guy has no luck.

I'm really annoyed that Richie Porte has crashed out yet again, just because I wanted to see a contest in the mountains and Porte seemed a top contender. I'm getting a little tired of watching the Chris Froome show which is like a one man performance.

Porte seems to get into these unfortunate crashes more than he should, I don't know why but its a huge problem for him, his team and all cycling fans.

Tonight is the first mountain stage...

My favorite rider in the peleton is Peter Sagan as he is tough as 904L...if you know what I mean.

I agree with you Steve. The whole Froome/Team Sky thing is getting old.
Richie Porte seems to be cursed. Two years ago he ran into the back of a motorcycle but stayed in the race and now he’s crashed out two years in a row.
I also agree about Sagan. He’s the best bike handler in the tour and just fun to watch. He’s got ice in his veins.

Well it's the second rest day and Pyrenees looming. Who's going to win? G going to crack? Tom going to hold on and put time into the Sky pair in the TT or Froome just going to do what he does well and excel in the final week like in the Giro?

I'd love to see G win but I see another 2012 Sky situation and G will ride for Froome.

I'm eagerly awaiting the Pyrenees as I was out there a few weeks ago cycling some of the stages.

Unfortunately, for those who like some exciting and challenging racing, I doubt we will see that again this year.

Froome is saving himself and playing a waiting game. He is the team leader and he will attack at the time the team plans. Geraint Thomas is just keeping the yellow jersey warm for his boss to take it off his shoulders at the appropriate time.

Oran, Nibali and Porte are all out of the Tour, its disappointing. The only challenger now appears to be Tom Dumoulin but I just don't think he has enough to out run both Thomas and Froome who will work together to defeat Dumoulin.
Nairo Quintana and Adam Yates have lost too much time to be in contention.

I think you are right. I don't think there will be too many fireworks the rest of the way. It's been fun watching Sagan this year though.

Sagan has definitely been a highlight of the Tour so far.
It’s disappointing that other GC contenders always seem to turn into GC pretenders. Nairo Quintana always disappoints.

Had so much hope for him the past few years but it's never panned out.

Is it just that Team Sky wears everyone else down or is everyone else just not good enough? Probably a bit of both.

Kudos to Lawson Craddock though. Broke his shoulder and cut his eye on Stage 1 but he hangs in there. I really like that kid.

Yep, staying in the race for his Go Fund Me charity. Lots of grit shown there.

I couldn't believe he survived the cobblestone stage. I can't imagine the pain riding over those cobbles with a broken shoulder. True grit and seems like a good kid.

Another huge disappointment this year is Tejay van Garderen. He had a terrible day in the cobbles but I thought he could bounce back in the mountains and at least contend for a top 10 spot. He just doesn't seem to have it this year.

Like you said, Lawson seems to be a real good kid and he’s shown that he’s tough as nails.
Tejay always seems to have a few good days and then falls apart when things get tough.

Only way the Tour can regain any interest now is an off the bike full on punch up between Froome and Thomas.

Haha. I’d like to see a bit of animosity among Team Sky.

Loved a random, mid-stage, wide angle helicopter shot of the peloton and saw him popping a wheelie. Sad to hear he's split from his wife.

I went out to watch Paris-Roubaix this year and rode the pavι. Never again. At race pace it's insane.

Watched stage 17 today in the Pyrenees. Chris Froome cracked and Nairo Quintana picked up the stage victory. Good for him, he seems like a deserving winner. I love these mountain stages and this one looked really tough.

To me, Sagan is like the Sky show in a way. I am getting tired of him winning and I secretly hope he does not win another world championship this year to make 4 in a row, but if he does win again, good for him. Seriously. That is quite a thing to win one but a 4th in a row is pretty amazing.

I am not a Sky fan but I would not be disappointed if Geraint Thomas won this year. Anyone but Froome. The Chris Froome rerun is getting boring to watch.

Nibali was my guy this year but he is out with a broken back.

No fair competition if Sky is in the game with their pharmacy

Do you seriously believe that? The slandering of Froome is a disgrace, as is the UCI’s handling of the situation.
