Panerai Ferrari FER 00012 - Thoughts/Opinions?

Dropped into a new local jeweler's soft opening this morning to see if they looked like they were going to be doing much with watches. They're still bringing in their stock (with the protests here a lot of retailers have merchandise vaulted), so that and given the size of the place (small) I wasn't expecting much. A few older DJ's and a smattering of others like IWC and Cartier surprised me, but what I really wasn't expecting was a Panerai Ferrari 00012 sitting center stage at their front showcase. Even more surprising was the asking price; easily 20% lower than any other FER 00012/FER 012 I've come across. I wasn't looking for anything like this, but it is tempting.

As mentioned this is watch only on proper strap and clasp, non-OEM presentation box. I'm not overly familiar with this one; I've only dealt with Radiomir models before. It's an L.E., one of 500 if I'm right; a hand-winding 8-day.

I can't see a brick and mortar local shop trying to hawk fakes alongside what were, at least on the exterior, proper Rolex models, but is there anything specific to look out for on these cross-branded PAMs? All markings, including those on the caseback, looked correct to me. Correct L.E. numbers, movement, Ferrari crest on crown, see-through caseback, ETC. I was only able to snag one pic unfortunately; but what do the Paneristi among us say?

I wouldn’t touch it with a ten foot pole

Rebranding is not a concept that I sympathize
Just my humble opinion

If it was a straight rebrand neither would I. Cross-branded pieces often interest me, from J.W. Benson-Smiths to Tudor-Harrod's...that said...some of the Domino's Pizza-Rollies do make me cringe; that I admit! ;)

These are mainly frowned upon.

If I owned a Ferrari, then maybe. Not very popular in the Panerai community.

It's essentially unsaleable, so if you buy it, you better love it as there is essentially no way to move on from it.

I mean if you can get if for $1K or so...ok. But don't put any real money into that..

If its in the case its because its insured. They're probably hoping it gets stolen.

I find these Ferrari watches an embarrassment to Panerai. So cheesy (sorry)

Agree....looks a little fakery. Even if it's real.....when you sell it as we all eventually do, you'll take a bath 'cause there isn't much of a market for this.

Tell the OP how you really feel about the watch!!! LOL.

Anyways Ferrari cases are unique to any other model and cane out prior to the 1940 Radiomir, so if you didn’t want a crown guard but wanted heftier lugs than the pin cushion wire lugs of the original radiomir than this could be an option.

As others said, hard to buy a Ferrari branded watch without owning one. Iwc has a merecedes AMG branded models.

If you like the case shape I would go for 1940 Radiomir.

For Panerai you have to know your models to worry about fakes/replicas.

For common 44mm luminor Models with eta movements you need box and papers.

For the in-house movements you usually can tell if it’s fake.

Like others said; it will be hard to sell if you buy as the market is small for these
