My original career aspirations were to be a car designer. Although that was just over twenty years ago I still draw cars here and there. Lately, since there’s not much to do outside I’ve broken out some tools and finally finished a design I started years ago. Also teaching my son some of the fundamentals.

Still needs a polish. This is my own original design and would be something I’d submit to Audi to offer an extreme upmarket luxury product in the $1M+ range. It would have a V12 and a stretched R8 underpinning. The finest leathers, wood and carbon interior options. Bespoke and completely over the top. Audi owns Bentley and you’ll find a lot of Bentley design cues here but also see that I preserved the unmistakable Audi DNA to bring forward a blend of ultra luxury and the sport car elements together.

What do you guys think?

Any other designers out there who want to share their work? I’m pretty sure one of our members is also into designing cars!

I just started new one, a Porsche Hot Hatch. :) Will post when I’m done.

Okay took a quick stab at a Porsche Hot Hatch. Wheels base is short, I’d expect rally circuit before full production haha.

Nice clean line drawings.
I also was one who realised 20 years too late that I should have done a Graphic Arts degree with a view to auto design. Been drawing cars on the back of envelopes most of my life. Make sure your Son has the opportunity to realise his ambitions if he shows talent in that field. The proper training and quals as early as possible. The broader field of Industrial Design is a good option for artistic people with an interest in product styling. Hard to see it being a field taken over by robots.

The rims remind me of the 924/944 rims, always loved those.

I’m so happy you picked up on the phone dial wheels that were on the 924/944/928s. Those wheels even to this day are awesome.
