Can you help me? Rolex daytona 116506

So this was handle down to me by my uncle. Just wanted to know if it is real and how much it would cost to fix the glass and repair the 2 missing dials?

It's fake. Unless it has some sort of sentimental value, throw it in the trash.

Fake! Maybe you could respectfully return it to your grandfather.

Common Fake. If It Says "Winner" It's NOT. Unless, of course you DID Win The 24Hours At Daytona....

Please, I beg you, put that watch out on some concrete and take a sledge to it a few times. You'd be doing us all a big favor.

Don't you think that people posting for the first time fake watches "handed down" from deceased relatives are simply people knowing the watch is fake and looking for info to assist them in their scheme? I thought this forum banned such activities.

I think people who know nothing about watches come here to find out if the watch they have is real or not. Nobody intelligent enough to have a "scheme" would try to pass off this watch as real.

There have been some inherited watches turn out to be real. It's rare, but it does happen.

What’s the scheme though?

Nobody in their right mind on here is going to authenticate it for them so what purpose is it going to serve for them?

Or are you talking about the fact some people on here seem to think the fakers come on looking for tips on how to make their fake better? This theory is more laughable than the “handed down by my uncle/grandad”

I think it’s more likely just a wind up from someone or most likely is just some dreamer seeing it on Craigslist or similar and thinking they’re going to get a bargain. They probably make out they own it already, let’s face it if they think they’re getting the bargain of the year they’re probably unlikely to say “it’s for sale here” for fear of someone else getting there.

In the UK we have a sale site called gumtree and there’s loads of fake Rolex on there. Saw a thread on another forum recently where the chap was looking to buy a bargain ceramic sub. Watch was total garbage but the “you never know” line always comes out.

These watches always seem to be "handed down". Ultimately I don't really care what people do. I never participate in anything I suspect to be less than above board. I believe these inquiries to be suspect. Some utilize phony ignorance to establish deniability.

Great decision. Put it out of its misery and take another fake out of circulation.
