For People That Have Multiple Watches.....

I wanted to get some fresh opinions on this subject. Many here have multiple watches and it seems like most have a favorite, or two.

I am interested to see if some fellow TRF patrons here simply put some watches on standby rather than flipping.

Also are there any people out there that collect some watches and don't wear them? Keeping them BNIB?

1. Whats the longest you have not worn a watch that you own?
2. Do you have any BNIB that are for collection purposes only?
3. Do all your watches get wrist time?

1. About 3/4 weeks maximum.
2. No, I wear everything that I buy and would not buy if I didn't intend to wear it. I couldn't afford to do that.
3. Yes, I have 3 Rolex, 1 G-Shock and 1 Seiko and all get some wrist time. The Seiko gets the least by a long way.

1. 38 years. Purchased new by me in 1970, not worn between 1972 and 2010--now in regular rotation.

2. Have a late 70's watch that's still BNIB--but not to collect, it was a gift and been looking for the right trade practically since it was new...

3. No. 2 above apart, wear everything--from SS sport watches in regular use to grandfather's vintage gold for family functions.

1 -- I have a couple that I have never worn

2 -- I don't have any NIB, but I do have a couple LNIB that I've never worn

3 -- No. I don't see the point when I have duplicates.

1. Of the watches I wear in rotation, a 60's Omega Geneve (given to me by the priest who married my wife and I) usually gets worn once a month. I have gone up to 2.5-3 months without wearing it.
2. None ever stayed in the box unworn. I once waited two weeks to put on a watch fresh from service and polishing.
3. See 1. above for the least worn in rotation. My Cartier Roadster gets 2-3x a month, and my Patek Philippe Nautilus gets the rest. Correct: I have no Rolex at the moment but that will change. Also have my grandfather's retirement watch that gets worn a few times a year (Wittnauer from 1969). The watch from the other grandfather is an Elgin from WWII. It does not get worn because it doesn't keep accurate time and it's tiny on my wrist at 32mm.

1) It's not unusual for a piece to sit for a couple of months as I usually wear a watch for a couple weeks or more before switching to the next one anyway.

2) None sitting unused. I've never bought a watch that I didn't wear - immediately.

3) All get wrist time, though some more than others.

ill give it a month or two, but if im not wearing it, it is destined to go.

i do not keep anything bnib, i cant afford to put them in a drawer, they need to be worn and the more they are worn the cheaper they become on a per day basis:)

finally i am not a watch investor, i am an end user. when i buy i do not expect to make a profit, i do hope to not take too great of a loss.

All get worn none are "laid up." All get worn on a weekly rotation and I would hope some go up in value but that is not the purpose of ownership or in anyway affects their wearing.

1. I was gifted a Burberry watch for being Godmother to my nephew & I don't wear that one often. Is too small for my failing eyes. Although sometimes if I'm really dressed up I'll wear it.
2. Nothing put away for a rainy day.
3. Both my Rolex get worn equally. Usually I find I wear them on alternate days & match them up to what I'm wearing. It seems doable with only 2. I'm planning on keeping the same habits with a 3rd.

Edited to add: I have a cast on my left arm & not able to wear any of my watches. I can barely squeeze the DJ on my right wrist, but too uncomfortable, so I don't bother. I am able to wear my Sub but since I'm right handed, I'm catching the watch on a lot of different things & so the watch is pulled from my wrist which is not only a pain in the a$$ but also painful on my wrist. So...I'm REALLY missing my watches. :-(

If I own them, I wear them.
Subs seem to garner the most wrist time.
