Would you agree the new Submariner is more tapered and elegant?

Having watched these videos by Revolution, I noticed they repeatedly describe the new Submariner as tapered, elegant, and “more wearable.” These seem to be common themes expressed by those who have seen, tried on, and/or purchased the new model.

https://youtu.be/k4x2jqNF8s0

https://youtu.be/kdTQdo8AAno

I have the new one... and I do think it looks more tapered and elegant than its predecessor. I can’t say if it’s indeed “more wearable.”

So, what do you think? Is the new Sub more tapered, elegant, or wearable?

[The poll allows for multiple selections.]

I would say so for the case, but maybe not so for the bracelet. Just going off photos though, haven’t seen or handled either.

Tried one on last weekend. I thought it was great and clasp was noticeably bigger. Not too much of a difference for me to get rid of my 116610 though.

Exactly this. But I would like to add that the case looking more tapered and elegant doesn't necessarily mean it's better than the 11xxxx. Depends on your preference.

More tapered? Definitely. More elegant? Watch itself perhaps, but with the combination in bracelet not sure. Would have to see in person.

I can always ground down the older model's case to be more like the newer version, but you can't do the opposite.

Pretty sure it is undeniable the 12xxx has more elegance. I own a 116610 but can’t possibly believe that anyone would disagree. Is it better?... that is subjective as is wearability (as I hear they are very similar). But elegance and design are much improved on the latest iteration.

Real question is elegance really what a Sub owner wants?? I’d leave that to classic line.

What I think? I think I don’t care at all. Minutest of virtually unnoticeable changes, to me, are nothing.

I don’t mind it, they’ve made a few adjustments here and there but it wasn’t the massive change the 5 series to the 6 series was. More like an iPhone and the subsequent “s” model upgrade that follows the year after.

I don’t think too many previous 6 digit owners are going to sell theirs and rush out to get the new.

The movement is an upgrade, except for the teething problems a lot of users have posted about, hopefully they iron those out.

Hands on with the newer one, felt the bracelet was abit too wide for my liking perhaps due to my smaller wrist. Prefer the older model.

Had the 116610 prior and now enjoying the new one. Both are terrific - the more tapered look really strikes home for me.....it's all personal taste. Don't think more/less 'elegant' or 'wearable' factors in to the differences - both are

Wouldn’t doing so, de-value a sub. Just flip your old sub for a new sub for approximately no additional cost.

I do not like the wide proportions of the bracelet. That is the deal breaker. And since when is a dive watch supposed to be "elegant". That term is more for describing your wife dressed up for a nice dinner date.

I do like the lug shape. The bracelets already big enough on the 11 so I need to try that on. I'm a big fan of the 3130. I just think its bulletproof having a 5 & 6 dgt Sub. The power reserve is nice but nbd to me having that in my DJ41. I rotate too much and have to reset anyway. My main complaint for me with my 3235 is that it really bugs me having to set the time by turning the crown backwards, aargh, I'm anal about that though and not saying it's dealbreaker. I won't part ways with either of my Subs but I am looking forward to trying the 124060 on when my AD has one to look at. Also hoping the dial doesn't appear too large. All in all it is a good move for Rolex as a new Sub was due. It also makes me appreciate my 11 more knowing its discontinued but now the new problem is I might have to add another Sub. Oh well, I always said you can't have too many divers..

Depends what you fancy? Body builder vs. Physique. One more aestheticly pleasing to look at than the other, depending who you're asking? I prefer the new case.

More wearable in that I would actually wear it. 5 digits were perfection of course. Rolex never should have gotten into this mess in the first place.

I can't help but think there is a bias right now with the 12x series. Visit this in the next 5 years and it might be different. These are all subjective points.

The lugs are nice on the new model. Nevertheless, I don't like the size upgrade from the bracelet and clap so much.
And I am very sceptical about the new movements seen the complaints that occasionally occur. This also from own bad experience from my former DJ41. FWIW which I bought BNIB.
