Am I the only one........,.
Am I the only one here that’s not drinking the Kool-aide? The posts here are getting so ridiculous. “I got the call from my AD...........”, “the SA at my AD called and she said she got a birthday gift for me”, “the SA told me if I spent x amount of dollars on jewellary they will put my name in for a Daytona” etc. etc. Are they giving out free watches? Are they giving 40% discount? They are giving you the privilege of handing over tens of thousands of dollars to buy a mass produced, albeit nice and sought after watch. I like Rolexes and I’ve bought a few myself when things weren’t as crazy as it is now. I for one do not want to be treated like a beggar and stand in line to hand over thousands of my hard earned money for a watch when I have a choice of other well made watches and be treated like a valued customer like I should be.

My point being, if you don't wanna engage, just don't. And no, I'm sure you're not the only one. Because there are many threads here starting just like yours. No offense. Truth.

I hear ya, and agree pretty much. There a no Rolex watches desirable enough today to grovel to some loser jewelry salesman like so many clowns here do (I’m sorry, “build a relationship”)
But who cares, many other great brands out there to spend your money on, especially in the 20k+ range. There isn’t a steel rolex made worth more than about half that. Let them waste their money, it’s their choice, makes the happy, and keeps the economy going!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Lots of threads like this. I can respect your approach. Doubtful that any ADs will miss you.
As you said, they have people lined up waiting. Mine offered me a RG Sky Dweller on Friday. Lovely watch. They said they would have it sold in minutes, if I did not want it. And I believe them. Cheers.

Well, I've personally pretty much had enough and I'm glad there are no ADs calling me as it allows me to save my money for now. I don't need any more bragging rights!!!

Every fan discussion forum has people who express the same sentiment...
“I’m done with Porsche!” “I’m done with The Eagles!” “I’m done with the Yankees!” “I’m done with Rolex!” “I’m done with _____!” Yet, they still visit EVERY DAY and secretly remain a fan of the brand about which they whine and complain. |

That’s a great point. I’ve been a member of a lot of forums over the years for various collectibles/rock bands/teams. There’s almost always an inevitable schism of old school purists who were around “before things changed, man” vs the new cats who are ruining the hobby, don’t get it, etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I definitely get it. People have shared many stories about being treated poorly by AD. Personally, we would walk out the door if I were ever treated like that. Or if I was told that I had to buy something I didn’t want, to be able to purchase what I desired.
I understand why many are voicing their disappointment & frustration. That being said, this has very little to do with the product. I have a great appreciation for many of the products Rolex creates. There has been an extremely HIGH demand for these watches. It is how the ADs have reacted to this supply vs. demand situation, which has been very frustrating. At the same time, they are trying to remain profitable. This is even more challenging when your display cases are mostly empty. There are a lot of other great watches out there! Rolex is, my no means, the end all & be all (but, they are brilliant marketers!) What a perfect time to explore other brands! Enjoy the journey, one watch at a time! |

But regardless there is more than enough kool-aide drinkers in this world to soak up the Rolex watches every year if you don't like the Rolex scarcity, the AD business/games, or the grey market prices...Rolex is not stopping you from venturing out to other well made brands. |

For many people out there Rolex represents the ideal expression of who they believe is their ideal self. There are many fantastic watches out there, but Rolex keeps pulling people in because of the perceived exclusivity. Also the brand is conservative and their conservative approach to changes keep value among discontinued pieces.

If you get the feeling that Rolex don't want your custom any more, or don't care, you are probably right. But then again, they never did. Your life, your money, your choice. As long as you are happy with your choices, it doesn't matter what anyone else does or thinks.

The Rolex brand is not better or looked at more favorable in the long run by the last few years of madness.

some people want a rolex and to get one you have to play the games today. it's easy to say you don't want to play the games and can go elsewhere when you already have one or multiple
there are always other good options, and a lot of the time they make more sense, but at the end of the day a rolex is a rolex and that means a lot to a lot of people |

Your post reflects the view of many as so do the rebuttals. Buy what keeps you true to yourself. I myself may be on the hunt for a Navitimer B01… why not a Daytona? 10x the provenance for 1/5 the market rate. NTM from the first time I saw it, I loved it in all it’s over complicated glory.

I rather have enjoyed the satisfaction of getting the call and picking up my JC. I can’t stop looking at it now for two months. Sorry it hasn’t been good for you but I liked reading about everyone’s pursuit.

I don’t mind them. Actually I’m happy for them. I try to congratulate as many as I can and just hope they enjoy them like watches should be.
As for the guys getting the run around by ADs. I feel bad for them. Hopefully they don’t get suckered into spending too much for nothing. |

OP:
- should Rolex make more watches? - if not, how should the company and their representatives deal with the high demand/limited supply? |
