Went with the 114060 over the GMT
I was on the fence for a while on the Sub vs GMT debate. The GMT had some perks I really liked- slimmer case lugs, green hand, gmt function, etc. So I went ahead and put my name on a list at a Dallas AD. But after really looking at the Sub again, I fell in love with the simplicity of it. I put my name on another list at my local Austin AD in hopes of getting a sub within a few months. To my surprise, they got it in a week and boom, I finally had the watch I wanted.
Today the Dallas AD called me about the GMT. During the call, I looked down at my sub and felt a great sense of satisfaction with my decision. The sub really is the right watch for me. The lack of a date function keeps the dial neat and clean. The GMT looked a little too busy for me. As far as the case, I think the beefiness is appropriate on a no date since the dial is so simple. The size makes the watch more significant without it becoming distracting or gaudy. The brushed links make this watch utilitarian, which is the whole purpose of a professional Rolex. I know this bracelet can take a beating. I don’t have to worry about scratching it up like I would have with the glitzier GMT. Overall, I’m happy with my decision. Nothing against the GMT, it’s a fantastic watch. But I think the sub is the professional standard for a reason. |

Am I reading this right? You bought the 114060 Sub no date and passed on the 126710BLRO? You could have bought the Pepsi, sold it, and used the profits to pay for your entire 114060 purchase!

You know what I really enjoyed the read, if money were no option i’d like a no date sub for weekends because I totally get the whole clean lines thing and I read so much about it. Thing is I see my GMT as a ‘one stop shop’ on the wrist. I use the date time zones etc all through the week yes we all have iPhones and what not but I do like the ‘organiser’ on the wrist but I totally get your thoughts on the sub and it’s reinforced my feelings to have a look and try one on someday, thanks!

Yeah, because that’s a great way to keep an AD relationship.

That mindset contributes to this AD mess, at least imo don't buy for profit's sake and save the watches you don't want for fellow enthusiasts that are serious buyers and would actually appreciate the watch....not the profit that comes from the watch |

I agree with this. I like my watches to tell time and date.

That's what I do: GMT LN during the week; Submariner on the weekends.

Congrats!
That’s a great choice. I waffled between the same two watched and also went with the 114060 for the same reasons. Just couldn’t get into the green GMT hand or the busier bezel. Still may get a GMT at some point. But if not, the Sub was the watch for me. |

Congratulations! The 114060 was my first foray into Rolex as well. Love the clean look.
