I agree. TBO, I can’t see why crypto has any value at all. But, I still think $16k is way too much for this watch.

Leonard said it best...
“And the dealer wants you thinking
That it's either black or white
Thank God it's not that simple
In my secret life”

Check out your options...as soon as you go binary you’ve been groomed...

“I bite my lip
I buy what I'm told
From the latest hit
To the wisdom of old”

Got it?

And yes, I have a pretty good understanding of blockchain technology.

At the very worst, I think BLNR could eventually depreciate in value once peoples' preferences change- but they are rare enough that there's a floor to how low it would depreciate. I mean people would really, really have to not like BLNRs for the watch to drop 60-70%. The same isn't true with Bitcoin, which is an inefficient implementation of blockchain tech and therefore is bound to be replaced by something else, should blockchain tech ever take off.

I’m saying bitcoin just because I don’t see watches as investments. There’s no sense in “parking” money right now imo. Invest it SOMEWHERE and allow it to grow. If you’re going to go crypto, put half in Bitcoin and half in Ethereum. Learn how the tech works. Find use cases. See where the big accounting firms and major corporations are investing their time and resources.

I believe in crypto for very basic reasons. There is a lot of money there, which is drawing some of the most talented developers and entrepreneurs in the tech industry, and they are focused on developing practical applications. The next “big thing” may not be crypto, but there is an excellent chance it will be born out of that industry.

I would say both assets would still be fairly liquid, but neither would be optimal investments. I would pick one BLNR over two Bitcoin, but one Bitcoin and other investments over the BLNR.

For personal use I would like a coke!

Interestingly I first started “investing” in BTC right around the start of this thread as a co-worker of mine was all about it. He’s happy as a clam right now because I think his buy in price was ~ 6k/coin

Mine is ~ 10k and though it’d be nice to have a BLNR, I truly believe long term I’m better off with 2 BTC especially as our government is ramping up to print another $900B.

And to any who got in March 2020 at 4k, bless your hearts and congratulations.

Its your money feel free to do what you like to do. But buying a rolex vs investing are two diff things.

Except these days it isn’t diff. People always like to say they aren’t investments but that’s garbage. If I can put money into it, and have it grow, it’s an investment. Just because it doesn’t trade in my brokerage account is irrelevant. At least the watch is a tangible asset. Not that money always is, but Bitcoin is literally just thin air. Somebody please get us back on gold. Nixon was an idiot.

I finally out of sheer FOMO dropped some money in the Bitcoin etf (tax advantaged account). You can bet it's due to flop any day now. Sorry about that.

I’m starting to think btc is suppressing a run in gold and therefore I want to add gold in preparation for the government crapping on BTC. Who knows though. Congrats to all the btc bugs.

I agree but they can do the same to gold again I suppose. I split my mad money between BTC and ultra silver / ultra gold.

Holding some physical gold got my friend and his family out of Cambodia (twice) when he was 8-9 years old. Not many assets can do that. A submariner or 4 could perhaps. I keep some around just in case.

with todays passing of 26,000$, bitcoin passes Visa into the 11th spot of the largest assets by market capitalization... and we're not done yet.

a move to 100,000 from these levels is only a 4x move...and a 250,000 bitcoin is only a 10x move. both these levels of movements are easily attainable.

that 116619 will be mine!

No way! It's just going mainstream now. Hold out for the moonshot as long as you don't need that money.

I am done caring if anyone puts money into crypto or not. I own btc and eth. I won't sell it ever. If it goes to 0 it won't change my life one bit. Thinking it will go to 0 is pretty inept at this point. In the past I've said 1% to 3% of an investor's liquid net worth should be in this asset class if one is to invest.

CME is trading futures on both of the above cryptos. CME is going to a distributed ledger for trade execution and settlement. They were granted the patent last month. The pit is dying.

Wells Fargo got a patent for digital wallets. MassMutual bought 100 million in bitcoin recently. Microstrategy invested 1.1 billion into buying 70,000 bitcoin (roughly half at 10,000 and half at 21,900). The company has stated they are long term for 10 to 15 years on the investment. Funds and wealth are not even involved yet. If we took a poll on this very forum about 1% of the responses would be "I own crypto".

Blockchain technology is the single greatest innovation since the advent of the internet. Does it mean these coins have value? Not necessarily. I see it this way. Bitcoin is an anti inflationary asset. It ultimately has lower inflation than gold. If you understand what happens with an anti inflationary asset then you understand why if it is adopted it has to go up in value. The reason people fail to believe in this is because every asset you know, other than maybe a television, is inflationary.

Ethereum is the biggest development platform in the crypto space. You can bet your butt big companies are developing projects on the blockchain.

I can give you a perfect example of closed loop currencies that need blockchain - Airline rewards miles, credit card points and hotel points.

I could name other examples but everyone can do their own research and figure it out if it is worth an investment or not based on their risk / reward profile.

But hey maybe I am just some crazy fool right? Could be true. Doesn't matter though. It is a hedge if nothing else with more upside still than any other single asset class.

Couldn't agree more with everything you said

if you're nervous about getting in now, just use Dollar-cost averaging on Coinbase, Paypal, Cash app, etc...
